Excellent idea CamelPilot. :ok:

Before the expert snappers get going, here are a few pics to help start the ball rolling.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v146/FlyingLawyer/chipmunk1.jpg
WK518, a very special Chipmunk.
Special to me anyway - I did my first solo in it in 1971. :)
WK518 is now with the BBMF, and is one of the last two Chipmunks in RAF service. They are used primarily for the conversion/continuation training of BBMF pilots on tail-wheel aircraft – pilots new to the Flight commonly arrive with no previous tail-dragger experience.
It was delivered to the RAF in January 1952 and started its service life at Cranwell. It subsequently served with the University of London Air Squadron at RAF White Waltham, some other minor UAS units, the Cottesmore Station Flight and No 1 AEF at Manston before going to the BBMF in 1983. It didn't have this new-fangled high-conspicuity black paint scheme in my day, of course.

Harvard IIB
FT391 was my pride and joy between 1986-1990 when Mark Hanna and I owned it. It was built by Noorduyn Aviation (Canada) and delivered to the RAF in 1942. After service as an advanced trainer for pilots converting to fighters, it was subsequently sold to the Dutch Air Force some time after the war, and then into civilian ownership in Holland.
My net search also came up with this old postcard of FT391. Civvy reg is G-AZBN but doesn't have to be displayed. I don’t know where or when the photograph was taken, other than it was post 1971.

Yak-3
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v146/FlyingLawyer/yak3.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v146/FlyingLawyer/yak-3_04.jpg

With Ray Hanna joining as third owner, we replaced the T-6 with a Yak. The Yak-3, produced from 1943 to 1946, was one of the fastest fighters of World War II. The prototype reached 462 mph (745 km/h), the highest speed ever attained by a Soviet piston engine aircraft and close to the pre-jet era limit. First seeing action during the Battle at Kursk in July 1943, the Yak 3 was the first Soviet fighter to achieve parity or exceed the performance of Luftwaffe fighters. This performance was so marked that Luftwaffe fighter units were specifically forbidden from dog-fighting below 16,000 ft with Yak 3s. In later versions, the 20mm cannon firing through the propeller shaft was replaced with a 37mm variant, and the two 12.7mm machine guns were replaced by two 20mm cannon.
Ours was built in 1946, rebuilt in the mid-90’s at the original Yak factory in Russia, and reassembled at Duxford by the Yakolev engineers responsible for the rebuild. It's been a bigger project than we thought and hasn’t yet flown. Perhaps this season, or next?
(Note:The Yak in the photo is owned by the Fighter Collection. Both were rebuilt at the same time. I don't have a pic of ours that I can post, but they are identical.)

excellent pic of the YAK 3, I have very good memories of Mark Hanna flying the Alpine Fighter Collection's Yak at Wanaka in New Zealand. I remember flying in on the practice day and watching an incredible low level display, none of us were to surprised when Mark Hanna climbed out of the Yak !

Will you be flying the Yak yourself ?

The Yak 11 was an advanced trainer developed from the original spec Yak 3.
We've gone the opposite way - using the basic structure of the Yak 11 to build a Yak 3.

I've replied.
________________________

Two options if you don't have your own website -

(1) Persuade a friend to host the photo for you.
Send the photo as an attachment to an e-mail and, when it's hosted, include the 'url' in your post.
Note: If it's a business website, the pic should be hosted on a spare page which doesn't advertise products for sale or have a link to the main site. Pprune understandably doesn't allow free advertising.
It shouldn't be a problem. Some of the best photographs in the Rotorheads gallery are posted by a professional aviation photographer who doesn't promote his business, or even mention his name, when he posts his pictures on Pprune.

(2) Use one of the free photo hosting services on the net.
Make sure they allow direct linking to photographs. Some don't so you have to click a link each time which is a bore.
'Geocities' is unreliable - the links often don't work.

I've opened an account (free) with 1 ASP Host (http://www.1asphost.com/) to see if it's of any use to people wishing to post pics here.
.
I'll post some pics as an experiment. Time will tell if the service is as good as they claim.

The instructions for uploading photographs were easy to follow
- less than 10 minutes from registering to hosting two pics.
I've posted two pics below as an experiment.
If they don't disappear in a few days - we're up and running.

Having now tried both, I've found www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com) is more reliable.

22 Hunters in a formation loop (1957)

The formation was led by Squadron Leader Roger Topp, then OC 111 Squadron.
By lucky coincidence, I found myself sitting next to him on a flight to Antigua recently. Now 81 years old, he had a wonderful career, including leading the Black Arrows and, as a test pilot, worked on many aircraft up to the Tornado.
One of Roger's students at ETPS went on to become a distinguished test pilot himself - none other than our own John Farley.
Roger enjoyed reminiscing - but probably not half as much as I enjoyed listening. Our respective ladies were very patient - no doubt very relieved to discover we weren't staying at the same hotel!

(As an aside ..... who should be the Captain on the return flight but an old friend from my Tiger Club days who'll be known to many people here, Tim Barnby. Thanks to the daft new rule, I couldn't visit the cockpit but Tim came down the back for a chat.)

'Terms and conditions' are things which lawyers advise other people they should always read. :)

I've now looked at the T's & C's - they're curiously phrased for an online photo hosting service. I think all the owners of ASP mean is they don't want people using their service as free on-line storage of junk generated by digital cameras - family album stuff, pics not worth printing etc - and reserve the right to delete photos not of general interest.
The friend who recommended ASP tells me he's never had anything deleted.

Nothing to lose by trying - it's free, and the worst they can do is delete.

The Photobucket site had problems earlier today - I could access the main page, but not log in to the album I created. It seems to be operating properly now.

Sorry DamienB, as I understand it, the rules had already been made very clear - I do realise your desire to maintain your copyright and I also appreciate your talent - but then again it does rather seem that you've had a great deal of free publicity via PPRuNe and plenty of "in the know" adulation from a host of seriously well connected Aerophiles - and which appears to have led to publication in at least one major aeronautical journal and perhaps other Aviation publications...

Count your blessings - if you wish to copyright your pics, then why not do so with your name, not your website - and in a manner where Photoshop "experts" like me can't edit it out...! Not that I would of course, but I could do quite easily...

Mods: any chance of a sticky to outline the rules, and also how to digitally prepare pics fit for "PPRuNe" publication...

Sorry if this seems a grumpy post, but AHN is far and away the best forum on PPRuNe (IMHO) and has always been so amicable... and I am humbled by those I debate with!

Edited to say- yeek! Someone edited/deleted the contribution I was replying to while I was posting - feel free to delete/edit mine if appropriate!

Good suggestion. :ok:

You can not post pics/images direct from your hard disk.
The image must be on a web page somewhere. (But see note below.)

If the image is on a website, you can post a link so that it appears in your post, but you need the full 'URL' (web address) of the image.

If the picture is not on your own own website, to find the 'url':
Right-click on the image
Select 'properties'
Highlight and copy the . Always highlight from the start of the address to make sure you get the full address - which will usually end with 'gif' or 'jpg'.

Copy the full URL into your post, and put in front of the address and [/I M G] after. NB: I've put spaces between the letters so the software doesn't think I'm trying to post an image. Do not put spaces when you do it.

Picture Size
800x600 pixels (maximum),
72 dpi resolution (Although the quality is not quite as good, the file size is smaller and loading time faster which makes it easier for those with slow connections.)

See previous posts in this thread if you wish to post an image stored on your hard drive but don't have your own website.

If the photographer wishes, there's no objection to a [I]'Photo by X' line appearing on the photograph [U]provided it's not a business name and not a web address. Links/references to websites are not permitted on photographs nor in the body of posts.

Hi BRL - it's a Piasecki CH-21 "Flying Banana"... Piasecki became Vertol, then Boeing-Vertol, so this is the forerunner of the CH-46 Sea Knight and CH-47 Chinook.

After digging out the Valiant/Vixen photos I discovered some other early refuelling snaps which might be of interest.

The Vulcan picture is of a Mk1, probably working up for a trial to determine if it was feasable to maintain an airborne reaction force in the tense days of the early 60's. We tried it and it wasn't.

The Javelin was snapped on a routine sortie, Javelins were our bread and butter tasks at that time.

The Argosy was back to being a one off. It was a trial to see if it was possible to refuel an Argosy from the Valiant. We were as slow as we dare with some flap down, the Argosy was flat out and took a long time to catch up. He finally made contact on the tin drogue which was the standard in use at the time for the Valiant but it was all too difficult and never tried again as far as I know.

Sharpshot. I am certainly not putting up myself as an expert, indeed I have only just succeeded to publish. First of all, if you have photoshop, you should be able to covert to jpg by using "save as" and selecting jpg. Secondly you must start with the image IMG in [] brackets and end in /IMG in []. Give that a try, no guarantee. Good luck.

Out Of Trim
17th Apr 2004, 17:36
Sharphot - When you look at your album in Photobucket under each photo you have three lines of text.. On the bottom one the IMG tags and /IMG tags have helpfully already been applied for your use.. So, left click and drag your mouse over that line and that text will all become highlighted. - then right click your mouse and select copy.

Now just go to your pprune posting window and right click select paste and the picture will appear in that position when you post it.

what you have posted above is just the link..

Just experiment a bit.. and all will become clear.:D

OK. Let us see if we can crack this problem.

You will notice that we are losing part of the pictures and the page is being extended to fit the picture in.

Please post with a resolution of NOT above 640 x 480. Anything above is too big for the page and wrecks the page presentation. That size is perfect.

sharpshot Please adjust the size of your picture, you can do it in photobucket, but be careful because once you have resized you cannot revert. The answer then will be to start again.

The original file from the camera usually contains a lot of details about the time, date, camera, exposure etc. I find this a useful feature of the camera JPEG format (exif or summat like that)

Once you edit the file in something like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro and save it back to the original location, these details are lost from within the file.

I always keep my original photos in a specific folder which is archived to CDRs and also to a large external USB hard disk (keeps them easy to access). If I work on the photos, I move them to another place, especially if making significant changes, although I have been caught out on occasion and altered the orignal irreversibly.

Back up often. There's nothing like a hard disk failure to bring home the fragility of digital photos. Don't ask me how I know...!

Mark.

If you are using a Canon, the File Browser Utility will always give you that detail - even after you have tinkered - it may not show the Image but it will show your ref: no. so as long as you know that detail, there is no problem.

......oh, you use a Nikon - sorry, no idea!

A couple of pictures I got from my uncle who worked at Supermarine in Southampton, eastleigh, Hursley park and Chilbolton.

The first is of the seventh production Spitfire K9793 at Eastleigh in 1938 before joining 19 Squadron at Duxford. Destroyed 11/9/40 in combat with Ju88 while serving with 92 Squadron from Biggin Hill (pilot Sgt S Duszynski ? listed as missing).

The second was taken at Chilbolton just after the war when they were working on the Belgian Air Force contract.

A Belgian Air Force Mark XIV Spitfire hand-over ceremony. My uncle, Bill "Tommy" Tucker is centre right in overcoat, and had signed the aircraft off for flight.

The Belgian Air Force officer on his right served in the RAF during the war (F/O Van de Wale, B Flight, 349 (Belgian) Squadron). The aircraft is possibly SG108 (IQ-V), which served with the Fighter School at Koksijde in a silver and yellow scheme.

Treaders,
I wondered if the Canucks had another name for it, they have a tendency to re-name stuff.

Thought it might be a Dominion flag, but my Boy's book of flags has gone astray. And the other a/c all wear the Maple Leaf. It's fairly indistinct on the original, even through a shufti-scope.

Don't know where the a/c was operated, but it looks brand new in the pic

Ed to add: Sorry Canucks, just consulted a flag nutter's site and found that Dominion & Maple Leaf is the same thing (I think; flag language is weird). However it could possibly be the flag of Ontario Province.

Anybody know the story behind the non-standard fin marking (different flag)? Gainsey, it's the old Canadian flag, which was a Red Ensign with the Canadian Coat of Arms. This flag was replaced by the Maple Leaf flag in 1965. Some older Canucks still think this was a retrograde move, but I like the very distinctive Maple Leaf. We don't get confused any more with a British protectorate somewhere like Bermuda or the Cayman Islands;)

For a good picture and all you ever wanted to know about Canadian flags, see this Canadian Heritage site (http://www.pch.gc.ca/progs/cpsc-ccsp/sc-cs/df5_e.cfm)

And I've just noticed that you can see the old Canadian flag on MOTF's photo of the Old Warden Chipmunk on page 1 of this thread, which raises a question I've been wondering about. Why is a British T10 painted in Canadian colours? All the RCAF ones had bubble canopies and no undercarriage fairings and look quite different from the T10.

And finally, while seaching for a picture of an RCAF aircraft with a clear example of the flag (before I noticed MOTF's picture), I stumbled on the following picture, which, speaking as an occasional floatplane pilot, I think is the best example of formation flying I have ever seen:

Three RCAF Albatrosses in formation (http://www.airforce.forces.ca/grfx/equip_gallery/historic_gallery/wallpaper/albatrosa9.jpg) :D

I've some (I think) publicity shots of HMS Ark Royal, taken in 1974 , all black and white 8 by 10's. From the initial picture it would appear 809, 824, 849 and 892 squadrons are in residence. Can anyone here direct me to a web site who would want these pictures uploaded?

YWIW,

The Ark photos (IIRC) were compiled to go in the 1974 Ark book, at the end of the commission. Some taken from the Ship's Flight Wessex HAS1, others from our Sea Kings. Lots more pics on my web site, but I guess I can't post a link or it might breach "advertising"? Follow the www link for my ID, look in the Gallery section.

Gainsey,
The tubes on the wingtips of the CF-100 are three tube rocket launchers. They were temporarily fitted when the crews went to Cold Lake to WPU (weapons practice unit). The normal armament was wingtip pods with 29 2.75" FFAR (folding fin aerial rockets, unguided) on each wingtip. Firing full pods was too expensive for training and radar calibration so the three tube launchers were developed. The targets were a RADOP ( looks like aTallboy bomb towed by the nose) towed behind brave lads in T-33s. You closed in on the targets from a 110 degree crossing angle and the whole 58 rockets were supposed to be launched by the fire control system in one great burst. Sort of a shotgun approach. I imagine the theory seemed good at the time but I often wonder just how effective it would have been.

Some of them, the stream landing was on return to Eagle from Sembawang (?), when we had a flypast for STRONGBOW. We seem to have done a lot of flypasts, I have Hong Kong, Cubi Point, Wellington, et al in the logbook for that time ;)

Third shot down looks like Portsea back beach? Home of the disappearance of Harold E. Holt, the rifle range is the clear area through the tea tree scrub.

Judy's Trojan is always a delight, although the view of Tyabb runway is a bit daunting. Glad we just lift into the hover, none of this running up & down runways to get airborne ;)

JE,
Thanks for the info on Portsea - I wondered what the clearing was - I tried to imagine who or what might land there - glad to hear that was not the intention!

Tyabb, strewth - you have to concentrate on t/o let alone landing:eek:

Last time I was over, went into Wallan. Taxied up the parallel taxi strip only to perceive a ditch separating me from the runway..the departure was interesting and my pax weren't too sure whether it was going to be a L or R arrival on the way back in.

I revalidated my Aus PPL for $50, but I gather this lifetime piece of paper is going to be invalid due introduction of criminal record checks? So much for flying myself into Avalon next year - BIG drat!

I note something about the Pt. Cook Walrus on the "Shagbat" thread..........I just happen to have a pic of that too. Pt. Cook is amazing when you walk in and see the yellow glow!

Would I correctly assume you fly a Tiger? Remember seeing two parked at Essendon last November with markings reminiscent of Redhill UK. Next planned visit is March '05.

I wish someone could show me how to post a string of photos in one hit.........one at a time is a bit laborious!! I can't fathom out this "create album" in photobucket, but presume this is the means to the end I am looking for??

Glad you liked them - I was a little nervous posting them. I had seen Bill display so many times and it just seemed fascinating to see three T.P.'s (and many more) tucking in to ice creams on a warm summer's day.

They were all so down to earth and such gentlemen.

The other two; ahh, my now late father and one Paddy Barthrop whose fate I am not aware of.

The three of them got me hook line &.........my father had arrived on these shores with the RNZAF in 1940 and had just given the Acubra hat to PB and I wondered why as he seemed fairly attached to it. Well it "transpired" that it was in lieu of a jumper that the old man had helped himself to having shot PB down over the channel. It was all so believable as it just came out with many a tale. Strewth, was I horrified - my dear father had shot down his mate:ugh:
Well I had a sleepless night - my paternal hero worship in tatters.

If you have a look at this page you will see how larger resolutions make it expand and people miss some of the wording because it '5 - 7 inches to the right! The above resolution is just right so I would grateful if you would kindly stick to it.

Sorry ! I may have a lot of records and recolections going back a few years but I draw the line at keeping Metars !!!

From what I recall the 'Combo' came up from Paris and overflew Stansted at FL70. Then Heathrow approach took it towards BNN and turned it onto an easterly heading to take it downwind right for 27 L/R. It flew down the Heathrow Approach before overshooting and dissapearing into the murk. Not sure where it went to.

The Sandringham pics brought back memories. It was lurking around the London CTZ and a colleague offered it an approach to 09L. I was the Air Arivals man and it did a run and then turned left over the M4 towards Leavesden. Took me a while to find it, it was so low - about 10 ft off the deck. The AFS rang up saying they wish I'd belled them so all of them could see it. God knows what it must have looked like on the M4 - it went over there at about 100 ft! Wish I knew what date...

When the picture first hit the Internet there were many cries of foul, people assumed it was a Photoshop fake. Fortunately there were many eye witnesses who remembered the event who were able to confirm it happened. It was shot using a 400mm lens which has possibly made it look hairier than it probably was!!! As I only shoot slide film I very rarely get my films developed in time to impress with my shots from the latest Old Warden airshow.

Below is a picture that I took during the DHMC day at Old Warden. It was a beautiful sunny day early in the summer which gradually clouded to produce a wonderful backdrop of storm clouds. I only got the film back today (eventually got around to sending off all the films in my camera bag) and the following shot stood out as though it was from a posh manufacturers brochure. Thought I would share it with you.

Cockpit of Moth G-AGHY.

An Anson found on a farm, now at the local airport. It is surprisingly complete, except for the timber spar wings.

Would be nice to see it restored but a few years work there I feel. I was involved with the Anson restoration at Newark many moons ago.

Looking at the cockpit interior don't you just get the feeling the crews were often not too familiar the manual.... I love one the "Avoid collisions....":)

This Beau crashed as a result of being shot up by a Flak ship moored on the far side of an German Troop/freighter, whilst loosing of rockets into said ship and pounding it with everything they had, when they flew over the top they flew through a barrage of flak, its seems the tyres were shot through as well as the Beau itself, when getting back to the airfield Alan Powell the Pilot (still with us, and living in North Wales) found out he had next to no Hydraulics and as soon as they touched the ground, in his words "things got very interesting" the Beau being built like a battleship saved the pilot and Nav/airgunner my father.

In the picture Alan Powell the pilot can be seen on top of the glazing retrieving some of his kit , whilst my father can just be seen between the engine and the cockpit side.

The Beau was a write off, with the starboard engine having partially detached slicing into the cockpit area whilst the fast slide broke or bent the main wing spar.

I hope you find this of interest.

Mustang A68-113 at Townsville, Australia in 1953. This aircraft was taken off charge and was eventually bought by the well known British racing car driver Ron Flockhart. He intended to fly it to England but was killed when he flew into the ground near Melbourne in low cloud in 1962.http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/HSWL/JLMustangA68-113circa1954.jpg

Nice pics - sadly no Breguet "Deux Ponts" are airworthy - think they ended their flying days by the early 1970s, a couple still exist in France.

Interesting about Ron Flockhart and the Mustang - I seem to recall a link bewteen him and Kallista (sp?) in Oz - was that where he crashed? Is the actress Calista Flockhart's name a coincidence?

HSWL

Treadigraph. Don't know about the actress name but Kallista was where Ron Flockhart went in. He departed from Moorabbin for Bankstown VFR (he did not have a current instrument rating) but was caught in low cloud trying to get under the weather and seemed to have been disorientated.

Hi

The Lancaster is from No. 404 'Buffalo' (MR) Squadron based at R.C.A.F. Station Greenwood, Nova Scotia.

The Neptune has the Canadian Red Ensign on its vertical stab. It replaced the standard R.A.F. tri-colour fin flash 1957.

The R.C.A.F. Grumman Albatross was designated CSR 111.

Clint, thanks. On my holidays from school in Dorset, I spent a huge amount of time in the confines of HMS Gannet where my father was serving (middle 50s before the IRA started again) especially with ATC. When offered flights in the Avenger and Dragonfly helo (I know that would never happen these days) I readily accepted.

I am not a journo but just someone who was lucky enough to have a pretty free rein around a RNAS. Also with my father serving on HMS Ocean prior Korea and visits to HMAS Albatross (I think) in Nowra Oz wher he also served, gave me a fascination with all things flying. I have albums of Grumman Avengers, Gannets and Mk5 Firelfy but no Mk 9.

Not a matter of life or death but just an small obsession!

I am sure you have checked Google but the following from http://www.kotfsc.com/aviation/firefly.htm suggests that all Mk 9s were modified 4s and 5s for remote control as targets

The first production Griffon 59-powered Firefly AS.Mk 7 was flown in October 1951, this reintroducing the beard radiator that had caused problems with the sole Mk Ill. Intended as an ASW aircraft accommodating two radar operators, few Fireflys AS.Mk 7s were built as such, the majority being completed as Firefly T.Mk 7 ASW trainers within a Mk 7 production of 151. Later conversions to pilotless target aircraft were carried out by Fairey, these including 34 Firefly U.Mk 8 aircraft converted from Firefly T. Mk 7s, and 40 similar Firefly U.Mk 9 conversions from Mk 4 and Mk 5 aircraft. They were used for missile development, and by the Royal Navy as targets for its Firestreak-armed fighters and Seaslug-carrying ships.

"As for that clattery Piasecki thing..."

This aircraft arrived in US Army colours at RCNAS Shearwater in Dartmouth NS in May 1954. After being given a paint job it eventually became part of HU-21 (Helicopter Utility Sqdn.).

The photograph was possibly taken whilst this aircraft, as part of HU-21 Detachment 2, was operating from the Arctic Patrol Vessel HMCS "Labrador" which in 1955 was supporting construction of the Canadian/US DEW line in Northern Canada.

Originally it was numbered 947 but on 1/6/55, when "Labrador" sailed from Halifax for Hudson Bay/Foxe Basin, the number was changed to 247. It remained with the ship together with two Bell HTL-4 machines until late November and operated more or less continuously in that period sometimes in very bad weather conditions. "Clattery" it may have been but it was a very good helicopter.

You will have noticed that 'evansb' great pictures are no longer on the thread.

Quite simply they have been removed by him because they are "copywrite" (yeah I know!)

This leads me to say to anyone. That he has not been prompted to do it but he has clearly decided, for whatever reason, to remove them.

I am really peeved that this thread has been carved up by this but he is right in one respect, PPRuNe does not allow pictures, or anything, to be displayed that is copyrighted to a third party.

There were 115 pictures that have been removed and I have to spend some more time to remove others.

German reconnaissance photographs of the east coast of the UK taken shortly before World War II have been put on display for the first time.
The aerial views of cities, towns and beaches from Kent to Wick were stolen from a Luftwaffe base by a British commando towards the end of the war.

Okay, let's narrow it down to something in the Museum at McClellan AFB, CA, shall we?? It's obviously a side-by-side large aircraft with a tricycle undercarriage and pretty large, as youy appear to be quite high. Checked out the C-119, T-39 and HU-16 cockpits but combing/dash is not right for any of these? Jet or prop?

Well done Treadigraph! What threw me was the F-101B in front of it with s/n 57-0428. I looked up to see where this was and my records show that '428 is(was?) in the McCellan AFB collection. The Dover AFB collection has (had?)s/n 52-1639, so how old is that shot or have they swapped them around recently?

treadigraph
28th Oct 2007, 22:55
I looked up surviving C-133s via Wiki (dangerous!) and decided it had to be either Dayton (no) or Dover, and the 141 seemed to fit the bill best. Well that's what t'internet's for innit? :ok:

Certainly a spacious place to go to work - could you look around many of the exhibits at Dover LFT?

LFT
29th Oct 2007, 18:15
On certain days yes, but it's only usually the C-141B and an ex-Pope C-130 that are always open, but if there's anyone working on an aircraft and you ask they'll just tell you to go on and have a looksee, no problem,

Mr Evans,Sir,
Now you have excelled. In 1938,Imperial Airways produced a model of the Mayo & Mercury. It had interior lights and all eight props could be set running.I was a boy of nine.My father obtained one for me.It was my pride and joy.In 1940 the Luftwaffa sent a bombing raid to destroy the Supermarine works, where the Spifire was designed and produced. Our house was half a mile away and destroyed by incendaries, bloody awful bomb aimers!!
Sadly my model also..plus a lot of my fathers memorabilia.Would give a lot now, for it to have survived. Thanks again.
