U experienced (old) guys' and gals' out there must have seen a few funny regs. or ICAO Designators' in your time?

Saw a departure point the other day somewhere in the US of A with the designator being KLIT, which heralded a few "phnarr phnarrs'" around the ops room!

Also once saw a pic of a german registered C172 with the reg.
D-EEFY!

And not forgetting Old farmer McDonald in Ireland somewhere with his cropsprayer reg. E-IEIO

Cheers

Bob!

I have had one called G-TENT come in once, to which the tower obviously had to say to the guy, ''for over night parking, you can pitch it over there'' !

On the funny R/T call-ups, i have had a guy call-up, been given the details and then asked me to repeat the info becuase he and i quote ''Had no lead in his pencil'' :)

When Easyjet used their alpha numeric callsigns we got EZY 5LT which looked amusing on the radar labels..

On the VOR approach into Boca Raton, Florida the FAF is named UGLEE. Funny when you got cleared for the approach "... N123AB, 3 miles from UGLEE..." etc

Further south, somewhere south of the Florida Keyes if I remember correctly there is a waypoint called DROWN.... somebody with a sarcastic sense of humour must have come up with that one....

RC-135 used to leave controlled airspace to the open FIR in the Clacton area to refuel enroute Offutt AFB in America. The flight strip read - CLN FIR KOFF

seen recently on S15 (DOVER for the old lads!);

IBENT - a bit queer that one :}

and Bexil160's favourite

GBL05T - coming 'up the hill' via GUBAR

Didn't see this one myself so it might be a LACC myth - there was a USAF tanker callsign - W4NK1..... except an 'A' instead of a 4

or what about the reporting points in Scottish FIR...........

New Reporting point in NZ:

Effective 10 JUN 04 (0406091200UTC) a compulsory reporting point (BOLOX) and
a holding pattern are established at the intersection of H235 TASMAN REP/TR VOR
and R050 from NS VOR, a new ATS RTE is also established between the reporting point and NS VOR.
New reporting point:
The following new reporting point has been established:-
BOLOX S41 08 01.67 E173 53 51.04
New holding pattern at BOLOX:
MSA 6100ft

Not as much fun as HOLDing BEVER up Napier way.

In Oz I saw LARRY CURLY and MOOWE (the three stuges) as entry points to the IORRA

Dunno if the points are still there but the 3 waypoints out to the West of Perth were LARRY, CURLY and MOEOE (can't remember how they spelt that one but something like that). Jerricho would also just love one of the points into Melbourne, WENDY. If only you'd shagged her she may have given you an easier time :E

If you at Manchester, take a look at the Atlanta 747 TF-ARS. We also used to have a DC10 in Scandinavia registered OY-CNT ;)
