Useful trick to know ....

(a) copy the URL from your browser

(b) type .. as I don't know how to fool the parser I have used text rather than the character [ in the explanations below ...

(open square bracket)url= ... then paste the URL ... ]text

This presents "text" in the post as a hyperlink to the URL

For example, to hyperlink to the PPRuNe homepage, type in

"(open square bracket)url=http://www.pprune.org]PPRuNe Homepage"

will give you the following post display ..

PPRuNe Homepage (http://www.pprune.org)

which the reader can click to hyperlink to the home page.

You might also be interested in the "Great Circle Mapper", a free utility to be found here: http://gc.kls2.com/

Just enter any two locations (IATA or ICAO codes) in the left text box titled "Paths" and click on "Display Map".

If you would like to know the distance between Duesseldorf, Germany and Manchester, UK for example, you would enter "EDDL-EGCC", and it will show you the Great Circle Route between these two airports, their location (51°17'22"N 06°46'00"E and 53°21'13"N 02°16'30"W respectively, in case youīre interested... :p) as well as the distance, 355nm in this case.

You can play with all kinds of neat variables. You can specify a certain ground speed for example and let it calculate your flight time based on this speed, or you can enter ETOPS restrictions and have them displayed on the map and so on and so on.

Itīs a great tool, and lots of fun actually. Just donīt use it to actually plan a flight... ;)
