Hi this is a question to pilots who have been working a few years.

What is it about flying that keeps you interested? How do you remain enthusiastic about doing the same checks and procedures day after day? Once the novelty of flying your type wears out and you become familiar with it, how do you keep the job fun? Does anyone have any triks of the trade for getting the most out of what can be a pretty repetative job?

Serious question from someone who is losing his joy.

Well you could try this (http://www.londonstimes.us/toons/cartoons/johan_aprilfools.gif)! I think it might end up with you seeking job satisfaction in another industry tho!

What are you flying and what type of flying?
airlines? corporate? instructing? services?

you can always look to other areas of aviation for that 'lifestyle change'

:D

V-5,

All jobs that have anything to do with machines are repetitive and therefore to a certain extent boring too.

But you wouldn't be flyng very long if that were the case. The most important reason reason you do this is, the reason why you chose this as a career in the first place is - YOU LOVE IT !

There is a certain rush of adrelin in a perfect take off, a perfect landing, a good flight, successfully fighting off turbulence, watching a full moon in the nigh sky spill its beams on your instruments at 30,000 feet, a new dawn, the grateful - though rare - letter from an appreciative passenger.

Small things that make a pilot's life so wonderful.

The money keeps the bones greased, you miss your family after a while too, but what the heck, so do rock stars.

And pilots dont have to get stoned or drunk to get 'high' !

Trust this helps

Go and instruct. The first really good trial lesson, someone who suddenly sees the joy thanks to you, and the first time your student flies without you touching the controls once will give you the buzz back :ok:
