to operate, say a 737, by a low cost carrier on a short route (lets say, LBA - DUB). Taking into account fuel, maintenance, crew salary, airport fees, handling charges etc, but for these purposes excluding the lease / interest / depreciation on the aircraft.

Anyone any ideas? Just curious.

It varies greatly, but BBJ ops costs (per hour, 900 hors a year) are as follows:

BBJ U.S.

Fuel
At $2.00 per U.S. gallon: $1,280

Maintenance
Airframe: 182 Engine: 57

Miscellaneous
Navigation: 0
Landing and parking: 36
Crew: 108
Small supplies and catering: 44

Total: $1,707

Hope that helps,

Assume that those figures are clearly as stated i.e.: without amortization - correct?

Timmcat Had a figure for a wetrent and catered with full crew for a Saab 340 @ $50.- per minute - engines on to off - in europe about 5 years ago - add to that nav, take-off & landing fees..... hope that helps:ok:

Gofer,

I really have no idea, I literally pulled those figures from the B website. Either way it's more expensive then renting a PA28 down at the local field!

I seem to remeber someone quoting a fichure of $400,000 a day when the band U2 chartered a 747 for a tour once, that seems kind of overpriced!

And Bono doesn't even have a reputation for trashing hotel rooms, etc! Wonder what they would have charged Oasis?
