For about the last few days a helicopter has been operating just south of Heathrow around the Feltham, Bedfont Ashford area. It is operating fairly low - does anyone know what it is doing???

Is that a new one to replace the one that broke just before I left?

no - it's a new one. The Met and Surrey SEPASU have parted company, with the Met keeping all three airframes elsewhere now.
It could of course just be helis crossing/in to LHR given those points mentioned are holding areas.
