Happened yesterday evening. A PA32 on the Massif du Salève just outside Annemasse. Of the 5 on board, 3 died and 2 were seriously hurt.

The aircraft belonged to the Annemasse Flying Club and was returning from Pisa.

Weather was pretty horrid yesterday, and Geneva ATC have lost their previously helpfull attitude to GA, but perhaps it was just not a day to be airborne over mountains.

Await the report with interest.

PA 32 Saratonga F-GTSC on its way from Pisa to Annemasse (next to GVA) disappeared from radar screens at 20:15 local time.

Alert was given to GVA Airport at 20:20.

Balise signal was identified at around 21:30.

Wreckage of the airplane was found on the slope of Mount Saleve at around 01:50. Three people dead, two heavily wounded. They are said to be from Marnaz, near to Sallanches (Press report).

No clues as to what provoked the crash, but the poor visibility. Long delay in the Search & Rescue operation explained through bad weather conditions. One Super Puma of the Swiss army did not start from Payerne, as normally planed, due to heavy fog. A French Allouette of the "securite civile" and a Swiss Rega helicopter based in GVA took part to the S&R operation, as well as 7 firemen in four vehicles of the GVA Airport, French SAMU and firemen.

Investigation and report should be done by the French, if I got it right, since the site of the crash is on French soil.
