British = BRAL (British Regional??)
Rubens = VLM (normally F50's in and out of London City)

And VLM = 'Vlaamse Luchttransportmaatschappij' - (short for Flemish Airlines!) :p

BRAL are no more ... it's now British Airways Cityexpress.

Thanks everyone!

I was going to ask who "Reiner" was, but have just realised it must be "Ryanair"!

Still think the coolest one is Navigator - Novair Sweden :ok:

Not an airline, but I wish the gaffer would change ours as I'm fed up being referred to as "Imogen 01".:O

As I am sure those that have to use the callsigns "SWALLOW" and "BABY" would love theirs changed too :ok:

"Swallow" is not allocated to a civil company (ICAO Doc 8585) but was used in the past by some cheeky boys operating dull green wobbly palm trees out of Aldergrove with callsigns such as "Swallow 69".
I think someone has cottoned on & given the Helicopter Support Force the callsign "Vortex" !

Errr, you're out of date old chap. "Swallow" is the callsign of Air South West (operating ex-BACX nee Brymon DHC8's out of Plymouth).

Due to a shortage of printing spaces on the paper flight strips at Swanwick some of the airline callsigns are of necessity trunkated. For example most West-end controllers, and all trainees thereon actually believe there is an "Air Nostru". Hats off to "Specsavers 1"....you need a sense of humour for that one.

Thanks Wycombe !
I should have known better than to rely on ICAO docs for up to date info ! :)

Some of my favorite call signs were:

TDG - Turbo Dog, when they landed they would request to taxi to the dog house.

KHA - Kitty Hawk, they would request to taxi to the litter box.
