Looking for remote airfields that are large enough for commercial aircraft(like 747 size) and are in warm climates during the months of october through Feb. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

This is for flight testing.

Remote from what?

Civil and/or military?

Diego Garcia probably has a long strip :O But you'll have to have Govt approval.

I assume that the Caribbean isn't remote enough.

Papeete, Tahiti is perfect for you! The nearest place to handle a 747 is Rarotonga, and thats a good few hours flight time. Perth is pretty good too...

What kind of testing?

You mean remote away from other suitable airfields, or remote away from other people?

A wide question...not enough detail in the requirement...what is yr flight test program, what airport hours do you need i.e. H24 access, what runway length do you need both operationally and/or to conduct tests, do you need access to a 747 sized hangar and appropriate MRO equipment/facilities etc., for what?!

In the US just go south to places like Mojave, Kingman, Roswell, Yuma etc. I would have thought...where all the 747's live/are stored/are dumped/seem to do flight test programs now
