Here's a plane picture quiz for our senior members :O

I found lots of photos on the web so it should be easy. This one is from an ad introducing the plane. I scanned it from a 19xx magazine.

'ere. 'ow ol' d'ye think we be??:(

Since I'm only a middle ager, I have no idea what it is.

Best guess would be something French out of the Morane, Nieuport or Salmson stables. :confused:

Can I use a life line? :}

Correct, the Farman Sport, built by the Farman brothers - Henry, Maurice and Richard - born of British parents in Paris.

My photo comes from an advert in the American mag Aerial Age Weekly for April 19, 1920. W. Wallace Kellett was marketing the plane in the USA. That's a couple of years earlier than mentioned on the Smithsonian site.

PS to CS@Darwin. There can't be many people on PPRuNe older than I. My father turned 29 the year that advert appeared!

Sounds like a good idea for a new thread..."Whos the Oldest Prooner?"

But should it be posted here or on JB? :}

(Love the quizes by the way...keep 'em coming)

Who's the oldest? I'm too vain to compete, as may be others.

JB is the place for the "contest", and I think I have the (in)famous Drapes by a few years.

Farmann and DeHaviland have distinctive rudders that are like Trademarks.
