Applicant must be hold a Grade 3 and ATPL theory subjects

The benchmark has been set, Industry standard now requires a grade three to have an ATPL??

WHY??

Ace on Base,

It’s up to the employer to set the mins they want, I used to love it when people would argue with me over the mins.

Their application never went any further.

Some operators like ATPL subjects for the following reasons:
Not being in a capital city, having to let employees go away for study
Not being in a capital city, having to let employees go away for exams
If you want to put an aircraft online that needs an ATPL holder as PIC, this person could be a co-pilot, and then move to the LHS when required without having to go away for exams/study
More knowledge
This list goes on ...

I have also heard of operators who say before you get you GR2 you will need to have 4 ATPL subjects, to get your GR1 all ATPL subjects.

Whilst I don't disagree with the thrust of your comments swh it seems a bit odd to me to now to expect you to have done all your ATPL subjects whilst at a grade 3 stage.

In the old days when you have to do them all in one hit (and take a few weeks off work etc) fair enough, but now they can be done at leisure concurrent with employment and the disruption over a 2-3 year period is minimal.

Having an instructor with the subjects would also mean that s/he is more likely to meet the minimums for QF and ****** off quicker meaning costs of hiring a new unknown person increase...

pros and cons! :ok:

CS,

Agreed with the pros and cons.

Like I said its the employer who sets the bench mark, some employers might see it the way you said, and look for G3's without ATPL subjects.

Just because one employer wants this, does not mean its industry standard, like not every employer looks for people with 2000 total, 1000 multi, 400 night, and 180 If ;)

Salsa,

ETA is an independant 737 type rating specialist in Melbourne run by 2 VB Captains, I did my rating there and compared to what some of my mates did in the States its a good product.

SWH,

About time you had a spring clean of your mail box...........!!

Its kinda FULL & OVERFLOWING!!

Tried to reply and say thanks for your PM, encouraging to know that ppruners are behind you, and afford some time to send a message!!

Many Thanks!

BTW...............

I know an employer can set their own minimums, Just hoping the industry was changing direction and employees could start earning more than a hapenny for a months work (not that I get a hapenny, I am smartly paid in comparison to lots of others)....................then I woke up!!

swh and compressor,

Whilst I agree with swh's comments on employees taking time off for study, in my opinion I think it'd be more of a culling process so that they suddenly don't get every newly finished and unemployed grade 3 sending them a resume from which they'd have to sift through.

And of course fax rolls and paper cost money too :}
