Please could someone help me (http://www.reportingpoints.info) ? I seem to have lost track of something here.

On 27/11/03 Upper ATS Route UN560 was redesignated UL18 and I cannot see any subsequent changes.

On 18/3/04 Upper ATS Route UB39 is to be redsignated UL18.

So far as I can see, that will leave us with two UL18 routes.

Surely that cannot be???

Thanks,

Nick

There will be two segments of UL18 in the London UIR, the current UB39 from SFD to TOLKA and the current UL18 from ERNAN to MORAG. Between TOLKA and ERNAN is the Shannon UIR segment of UL18. So it's just two segments of UL18 rather than two separate routes.

MC.

Edit: (The above is from observation of the charts rather than any specific knowledge of these routes.)

Mastercaution,
Actually, there will be only one segment of UL18 in the London UIR.
The 'other' segment is mostly in the Scottish UIR and partly in the Shannon UIR.
:hmm:

The only reason the entire route was not re- designated at the same time is that NATS were not informed of the change in London airspace until after the cut off date for changes to be put in the November software drop!

Thanks everyone.

Area52 - I guess we are now getting close to why the 18/3 AIP changes simply appear create a "second" and "duplicate" UL18 with no explanation!
