Just heard the same from our handling agents. AAIB are en-route, although no estimate was given for STN re-opening. Slot one deps are unlikely though by all accounts. :{

AAIB are not attending, runway is expected to re-open around 0530-0600. Minimal damage to the runway surface which is being repaired now. 4POB and all un hurt. Last i saw was the nose & Port gear had been lowered but the starbord was still tucked away.

VP-BMS was as diversion from Luton. This from a Luton website earlier: DA50 VP-BMS currently orbiting just East of Stevenage/over North East Stevenage (around 7.5 miles on the 26 approach) at 3000ft - was about to establish for r/w 26 at 00.54 when crew advised Luton approach of u/c problem. Aircraft unable to lower any of its u/c and has advised ATC 30 mins fuel left (at 01.04). Aircraft still orbiting at 01.11 (around seven orbits now). Aircraft requesting instructions and advice re diverting to an airport where foam can be laid down for a gear up landing. Stansted and LHR 27R being considered. Crew now requesting vectors to Stansted for 23 (at 01.12).

post 2

Aircraft has opted for landing on Stansted 05 - requested runway foamed if possible for a gear up landing. Now burning fuel before making 05 approach. Still has u/c problems - sounds like no u/c has lowered.

Here's the report from the BBC

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Jet makes emergency landing

An executive four-seater jet was forced to make an emergency landing at Stansted Airport in Essex because its wheels would not lower for landing.
The Falcon 900 jet, which was carrying two crew and two passengers, touched down with no landing gear at 0118 GMT on Monday. No-one on board was hurt.

The aircraft, en route from Tanzania to Luton in Bedfordshire, was diverted to Stansted after reporting a problem.

The runway was closed until 0530 GMT while it was inspected for damage.

A spokesman for the airport said some early flights may be delayed.

Essex Police said the Air Accident Investigation Bureau had been informed of the incident.

According to other web sources VP-BMS is a DA Falcon 900 EX owned by Stork.

A Falcon 900 described as "...a four-seater jet..."

Obviously it's owners opted for the really, really, really BIG armchairs. :p

Apart from that, this would be one of the best media reports I've seen. No hysteria, no hype - just the facts presented in a way that non-aviation types would easily understand.

Actually Tinstaafl, you make an excellent point. It is refreshing to see a report like this, a non-sensationalist aviation incident news report.

Maybe the Hutton thingie was good for something after all?

Well, Tins, really big armchairs or perhaps a couple of queen-sized beds (don't think kingsize would quite fit without blisters a la PBY).
