...why do you swap the landing and take-off runways at 3pm?

It gives the poor unfortunates who live under final approach or climb out on either runway a break from the noise for half a day !!! a misery shared is a misery halved

Only because we're told to!

Lord only knows why we can't swap overnight, or do a whole week 27L, then swap!

Thanks Vlad & Gonzo,

Obvious if I'd thought about it!
I was on a flight last week and it was mentioned by the flight crew. As I'm very bored at work, I thought I'd ask.

Has anyone thought to ask the poor unfortunate locals their preferance? I'd have thought one week one week off would be favorite. Assuming a few weekends away, and holidays etc, they could end up with planes overhead, when they were there, only about a third of the time.

Hi,

I would love to have planes roaring over my head all day. Unfortunatly i live under the flight path to one of the most boring airports in the UK. All we get is cessna and pipers. Saying that we did however get a 727-100 take off (equipped with winglets) about 20 mins ago!!!

Thanks dave :ok:
