Are you a valid CAA Radar controller?
Would you move to somewhere when the TOP of the Radar scale is £41975?

I think you would find a massive queue of Czech, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Polish, Romanian (the list goes on!) controllers beating your door down for a job.
Welcome to the new enlarged Europe!
...and keep your voice down;)

Would consider it now the exchange rate is so bad and no decent payrise for god knows how long!!! f only we could get half what they're talking about on the NATS thread:(

Shoot, you might get a few soon to retire ( young ) American controllers to come and work <G>... I know that your cost of living pretty much sucks compared to ours, but that pay isn't too bad.

I saw the advert for radar controllers at Liverpool in Flight this week that BarTT is alluding to . L I V E R P O O L. Don't you just hate it when people beat around the bush about locations in here?

Anyway, I thought it was pretty crap as well. The only thing I can think of is, since Liverpool is H24, would there not be an unsociable hours payment to bump that up to something more respectable? Surely there must be.

Ah! Liverpool. Point taken.
The queue just dispersed.

That figure is TOP of scale. There are no enhancements such as unsociable hours pay. The pension is a money purchase scheme and as far as I am aware there is no loss of licence scheme.

If the pay is less than £42k, then the holiday entitlement must be fantastic. If it is not, then NO-ONE will apply.

What a joke!

BarTT: No I wouldn't apply to a unit offering that sort of money, unless there are enhancements on top of that. These aren't mentioned in the advert so presumably dont exist.
There is nothing really tempting about the whole advert, no mention of any other benefits.

Scott: The salary qouted may appear reasonable compared to the US or other countries but compared to other comparable units in the UK it is, in some cases considerably, less.

Shaking head;

I agree that it isn't what is comparable in the rest of the UK, but would probably be liveable with our other retirement pay and it would give us a good jumping off point for travel around the UK and the continent <G>...

....and then units outside NATS wonder why they struggle to retain controllers. Sure that there are plenty looking for a quick validation and then ****** off but is that what they are really looking for. Quality costs, not a lot in the long run when you consider the long training times what are involved. Once again I guess a unit driven by the bean counters.

I suspect that a number of military guys, given half a chance, would jump at the opportunity.

Liverpool did sack some good people a few years back, so guess they deserve to be short staffed.
perhaps they should try a 'coventry' - offer a bit more and invite them back!!

I don't think Liverpool sacked the ATCO's as you say - I believe the conditions of service that Peel Holdings offered them, compared to Serco's existing conditions, were so poor that they obtained employment elsewhere ! Enough said !!

Sir Vaylance Radar

It was staff that had been recruited by peele, after SERCO had left. The individuals concerned were of sufficient calibre to get good jos elsewhere!

EGLL,EGSS,EGKK and Swanwick are NATS run. So give them a shout.
Someone from NATS would be able to advice you better.
