View Full Version : Australian Airlines First Failure??

The SARS crisis is well and truly over yet Australian Airlines appears to have not made any attempt to resume operations between Cairns and Taipei? Are we to believe that the Taiwanese have skinned AO? Or is AO planning a Sydney/Taipei operation to slog it out with the Taiwanese, EVA and China Airlines?

Don,

if they decide that there are better uses of the limited assets then why is it a failure?

Should they keep flying there at a loss just to make you happy?

Are you saying (that) CNS-TPE-CNS is a loss-making route for AA, ftrplt?
EVA appears to do fairly well out of it - although they integrate CNS as a part of the TPE-BNE routing, whilst paying their crew better than market rates!

Pretty simple really, not enough aircraft and doing better on other routes...But what would I know! :=

I have absolutely no idea, I assume there is more money elsewhere.

I couldnt give a rats arse what EVA pays their crews, and its irrelevant to this thread.

In answer to Don, I would suspect SYD-TPE is not on the cards as it is not a 2 crew operation.

"SYD-TPE....is not a 2 crew operation."

Why?

SYD-TPE = 3909nm
SIN-CHC = 4547NM (operated by 2 crew aircraft SQ)
CHC-KIX = 5102nm (operated by Air N.Z. B767)

Because Kap, AO operate to max 8 hours scheduled flight deck time.

Anything else?

Maybe you should be asking how the hell do Air NZ do CHC-KIX 2 crew.

not picking, but isn't the Air NZ CHC-KIX a B744?

It's been a 767 the few times I've ridden, j111.
The seats that Air N.z. have on those aircraft are THE most uncomfortable ones of any aircraft I have been in - wafer thin, and a "one piece" arrangement, meaning when the seat back is reclined the seat cushion moves forward as well.

KaptinM, you obviously haven't flown on Emirates in Cattle Class. Even the flight attendants agree, their seats are miserable.

Kaptin- How could it be that EVA pay better than market rates for their crews? Didn't they take on a whole bunch of those dreadful Ansett people whose sole purpose in life is to drag down the salaries and conditions of those hard working pilots who have negotiated superior contracts? Could it be that your spleen has finally been vented and you are mellowing in your dotage? Its good to see.

No, I haven't had that "pleasure" yet, ReadMyACARS, but without a doubt the seats on Air N.Z's 76 are shockers!

It's no secret, permfo, that there are a lot of ex-Eastern scabs at EVA, and that it may have been a case of "birds of a feather flocking together" (or that they couldn't get a job elsewhere), that quite a few Anscabs also ended up there.
I guess they NEED to pay reasonable money to compensate the non-scabs for living in that sh!thole called Taipei, and having to work with @ssholes.

Air NZ KIX-CHC is most definitely NOT a 2 pilot operation, be it 747 or 767.

Kap, it would be nice to say "we value your custom" but since you seem to be so virulently anti ANZ and every aspect of its operations, could you please take your money and wingeing arse somewhere else !!

Already did, nzer. The four of us now spend our money with an alternative carrier.
Undoubtedly Air New Zealand won't notice any difference, and it will mean less pax that the F/A's need to waste their time on.
Perhaps you're aiming at the ULTIMATE Airline, nzer - one with only a few pax who feel priviledged to be allowed onboard.....or better yet, one with NO pax at all! :ok:
