I start at Gatwick on monday 5th january and as yet have no short term accommodation when i start. Im looking for something within commuting distance for a while untill i find a permanent fixture.
B&Bs i've tried seem to want a fortune, first week of jan is busy?
If anyone can help or can recommend somewhere i would be gratefull.

There are millions of b&b's in Brighton that are quite cheap. 20 mins by train or car. Don't know about Crawley or Redhill though.
How long are we looking at before you find your own place?

just a short while, couple of weeks maybe.
Been loking at flatshares in Brighton already but don't want to sign up to anything over phone/internet. Thought being near Gatwick 1st would allow me to find my feet, travel the roads to see traffic levels/commute times etc. Alot of friends reccommend Brighton so will plan to view as many places as possible to find one suitable.

Get yourself down to the airport and look on the staff boards (not forgetting the airline crewrooms) - there are loads of shares pinned up.

As this is on the ATC forum I'm assuming that you're a Trainee controller - don't NATS have a list????? Ah, for just a minute there I was thinking NATS is a caring and considerate employer! Back to reality, try the crewrooms etc.

If you look at the local papers in Crawley you will see quite a few ads for bedsits from £60 upwards. Are you starting training on the 5th?

My advice is NEVER sign a contract for shared accoms. people fall out so easy and make life unpleasant all too often then escape is expensive!

Sorry - I thought I was being constructive .... and realistic. I've been there and done that and got very suitable accommodation with some crew. Sadly there was not a lot of assistance from the unit!
