News from Southern hemisphere.
Brazilian flag carrier Transbrasil accepted the inevitable and temporarily ceased its operation due to lack of funds. Managers are looking for a new strategy to keep airline operations with debts of more than U$ 350 million. Its fleet of 5 B737 and a couple of E120 from its subsidiary Interbrasil are grounded since last night (in January Transbrasil had 20 airplanes). Workers have not received a regular salary for a long time (their last payment was 30% of September salary recently paid), many employees are waiting for their severance pay and fuel suppliers no longer refuel its fleet.
Exactly 10 years ago it was Pan Am.
