Hi,

Can anyone tell me why at the moment (22:00 12/12) LHR are using the standby frequency (124.4750) instead of the standard frequency for night/ early morning arrivals and departures (118.5000) and does this happen on a regular basis. I would like to here everyones reasons and some feedback from people who actually work at ATC Heathrow would be fantastic. Just very curious about this matter and the reason behind it!

Thanks Dave

I used to work at Heathrow, but what I'm about to say could apply to any frequency, anywhere because there are many possible reasons. ... Perhaps an unserviecability of the primary equipment.. or maybe interference on that frequency... or maybe somebody had an open mic?? There is nothing sinister or untoward and it probably happens many times while you're not listening.

Thankyou very much for your help. Its probably right as i dont listen to LHR 24/7 and you probably know a lot more about LHR operations due to your experience!

Thanks very much for your help

I was at work today, and it was some kind of interference. Not sure what.
