View Full Version : Use of Link T departures at EGCC

If memory - I'm getting forgetful with old age - serves me right, when 24L came into use at EGCC it was only possible to commence the takeoff run from Link T with prior permission.

This was due to a conflict with simultaneous movements on 24R. It now seems common practice for departures to be permitted from Tango without reference to landing traffic.

Is this my imagination, or have procedures been relaxed as operations have settled in?

Hi Scottie
They were relaxed a while back, even before I left! There are weather limitations though (searches dark recesses of brain... :8 ) visibility 2000 metres or more and ceiling 1000 feet or more rings a bell.
Over here we have 2 of the 5 runways only 1000 feet apart, with minimal stagger, used simultaneously in all weather (except CatII or worse). One rule here, one rule there. Go figure!
Cheers
PS And I beat niteflite01 to it too!!:D

Your question is open to interperation. If you are cleared for take off on 24R and you enter the runway at T1, are you commencing your take off roll from that position or slowly accelerating to abeam VA1 from where you commence your take off roll.

Tongue firmly in cheek.

j17 - if you're cleared for take-off on 24R and you start your roll at either T or VA1 you have much bigger problems than where your tongue resides :)
