SIA loses motion to have SQ006 cabin crew cases heard in Singapore
By Asha Popatlal, Channel NewsAsia

SINGAPORE : 14 Singapore Airlines crew members who were aboard flight SQ 006 which crashed in Taipei three years ago, will have their day in court - but in Los Angeles.

On Friday, a California judge denied SIA's motion to dismiss the cases filed by the affected crew.

The Nolan law group, which represents some of the passengers and crew, said SIA had contended Los Angeles was an inconvenient forum for the cases.

And so, it sought to have them decided in Singapore.

EVA, Boeing and Goodrich had joined SIA in this motion.

In dismissing the motion, it appears SIA had not proved its burden of why Singapore should be an alternative forum.

SIA had offered to settle with the injured crew for 3 years of salary.

A trial date of May next year has been set for the cases.
