Interesting security/anti-terrorist exercise going on at STN tonight. RAF TriStar just landed under fighter escort and BA 747-400 being used for ground ops with "passengers". North side of airport closed to regular traffic for duration.

Further to previous. Fleet of dark Augusta 109's just landed behind them. Must be the boys from Hereford!

The less said about this on a public forum the better.

Disagree, A&C. The whole thing was notified to many (most?) UK operators - including mine - asking for volunteers to be passengers. Haven't checked the notams today but I'd be surprised if there wasn't one. Hardly a 'secret'. There's nothing that anyone with good eyesight or pair of binoculars couldn't watch from the aerodrome boundary.

You have offended a lot more people than just NF with that comment Frankfury_Cowboy, so I assume your apology extends to one and all.

Ridiculous thing to say.

Well, everyone who posts saying that they've been offended will get an apology of some kind, The rest of them can whistle. I'm not apologising willy nilly. Especially when I'm merely expressing an opinion.

Frankfurt Cowboy - what a prat.

Hope you never need them to save your arse one day.

I very much doubt that I will, being of Irish extraction I'm far more likely to be shot in the back by one of them.

and the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/essex/3252741.stm) ...

There is a argument that they want the exercise to be in the public eye - for deterrent reasons. And also for reassuring Joe public.

WCF, humble apologies. And thank you Ghost Rider for your concern. XXXX
