Master MEL for B737 says (among other things) TCAS may be inoperative (B MEL i.e. 3 days) provided:
a)………………………
b) Enroute or approach procedures do not require its use.

Let’s say we fly in Europe after March 31, 2001, ACAS II mandatory. With reference to b) above, does INOP TCAS mean we are not allowed to T/O, or are we allowed to fly up to 3 days with IONP TCAS ?

Anyone out there know the answer ?

Current UK AIC states that it is permitted to be U/S under the MEL for up to 10 days (but this figure will be kept under review).

However if both your TCAS and your SSR transponder are U/S you are not permitted to fly in UK airspace where the mandatory carraige of transponders is required.
