Just want to see how everybody sees their fleets now that Chapter 4 is basically on the books and the French have started the ever tightening operational restrictions in true fashion. :E

To be more specific for those of you that have looked in their AFMs and the noise levels appear to meet Chapter 4, do they really? :}

Please leave this one for a bit Danny. I think if people get where I am going with this one(and I won't just come out and say it) we could see some real interesting debate.;)

:E :E :E

Hmmm. Maybe nobody cares or understands my question.

There are brand new aircraft out there that by looking at the Stage 3/Chapter 3 noise levels appear that they will meet Chapter 4. Under Re-cert guidlines they will fail. Might not matter now, but a few years from now your brand new aircraft may see operational restrictions.

Err..... think your first guess was right.

747FOCAL, just what have the french done this time ?

dusk2dawn,

It wasn't an attack on the French, they just happen to handle aircraft noise in their own way even though they made agreements to handle it in the same "Balanced Approach" as the rest of the EU. France will implement a Stage 3 -5dB 24 hour ban next year. Nobody else is doing that. Cargo is going to get a little more expensive in Farance that is for sure. But this is not the topic. I know there are many here involved with fleet planning. I think a few are in for some suprises. :uhoh:

on the books?? Just when is the implementation date? I show 2006 for 50% of the required fleet and 2011 for the rest

ferrydude,

Do you read French?

No, however the question remains? What do you mean by "basically on the books". Are not 2006 and 2011 the actual implementation dates?

I dunno. It is confusing, but I think you may be right since I have now read a decent english translation.

The French have been saying for awhile that something big regarding the environmental noise from aircraft will be announced soon, but this is not it.

Still looking for input on the Chapter 4 question. :ooh:

Well, I think your earlier post sums it up. Nobody cares. The French have tried to ban stage 2 aircraft converted to stage 3 without anyone much caring and I'm sure this will go the same way. By the way, just what section of the AFM would the ICAO noise compliance chapter status be located?

Well that depends.....

Current production puts it in section 4.2 usually last page for Boeing Aircraft. Airbus is probably similiar.

On old Aircraft

Appendix 176 is ICAO annex 16
Appendix 138 is Stage 3

Cheers. :ok:

ps. I think they will start caring when they are told their new delivery aircraft won't/can't be Chapter 4 certified.
