May an ATPL holder carry out a full compass swing including adjustments on a light aircraft, or only a check swing?

Thanks.

I think that you're okay so long as there's a LAME to check the calibration, calcs and placard.

Anybody can carry out a check swing. However it needs to be certified. For that you need an approprately qualified engineer! As for compensation, again an engineer with the correct rating is required.

Why on earth should you want to do it yourself? It will only cost about 100/150 quid and won't need doing again for 3/5 years depending on what schedule you are maintaining your a/c to. If you do it yourself where are you going to get the calibrated landing compass from?

For the sake of a few quid get it done by a professional!

Sheesh, Bl##dy cheepskates.

Depending on your location I can put you in touch with several people able to carry out this proceedure for you.

As an ATPL holder, you used to be allowed to conduct compass swings, the only reason it was in the UK CAA syllabus, but that has changed now and whilst you can do the compass swing, you need somone qualified to certifiy it now.
