Simple question from a simple bloke:=

What 6 seat SEP touring aircraft are there out there and where might one be able to hire such a beast?

Thanks

Simple answer - Cherokee 6 (preferably 300 hp version)

I know there's one for hire in Fairoaks - but that is probably a bit far for you!

Check if there is anything in the Hangar website, or similar.

I'm sure there are always one or two advertised for hire in the back of Flyer mag, but don't have one to hand at the mo. I'll check tonight.

Saratoga is much nicer. Try Modernair in Fowlmere. (near Duxford)

Have a dig around on the web/pilot mag for something at Turweston. I've seen it land there and it's a based aircraft, six seater, some kind of Piper (I think it was red, not that that helps).

It might be private but I'm sure I remember reading somewhere about it being for hire, or club owned. Just can't remember where....

Thanks all for your help,

Does anyone know of any available in the Midlands area. Duxford is the closest so far.

Hmmm

I'm also going to be looking again in New Year. Could those that know, PM me about the two at Fairoaks - depending on price I would definately be interested.

AFAIK the turweston 6 has been sold, but I stand to be corrected.

Cherokee 6 at Turweston GBKEK 01280 701167 and there is one for hire through PFT at Kidlington 01865 370814 (check the latter number in the book though; brain getting old) Billins at Cranfield used to do one too.

Fowlmere fantastic fleet but not inexpensive.

PFT number is correct (that's where I fly). The Cherokee 6 is £150/hr wet at the moment - they'd want you to do a checkout, of course.

You'll easily go 6 up in the Cherokee if the people aren't too heavy and with a decent fuel load and even some baggage, but you'll struggle with the Saratoga, the retractable undercarriage and superb nav fit does weigh rather a lot!
