I am curious as to MD80 APU operation across the industry. As an operational standard how is the APU used? By that I mean, is is turned on at push back and left on till some altitude in case you lose an engine generator. On approach is it turned on at some altitude and left on till taxi for the same generator loss reason?

Thanks in advance for your time.:)

I don't think I have ever asked a question here and not got an answer..... Please don't think I am a junior around here with the amount of posts I have......a few weeks ago I changed my email addy here and for some reason it closed my account so I had to restart, hence the low post number. :( I am not a reporter or anything like that.

Scroll down to the 3rd post. Can't vouch for the accuracy though.
