My instructor is unavailable today....

So help if you can.

Quote:
Low stage bleed air (8th) is routed through two a/c motor driven valves to pass through each inlet guide vane and into the inner shroud which forms part of the engine front bearing hub. The air passes from the hub into the engine nose dome and exhausts, through a slot, into the engine inlet airsream.

Q. What exactly is the bleed air trying to heat here? The guide vanes/shroud/nose dome?

searched for a diagram of Engine Anti-icing system but no dice! Study guide (not systems manual) has an oversimplistic diagram...
diagram or explanation would be good!

Many thanks

The anti-ice is to control the amount of ice buildup on the inlet guide vanes to a level that will not result in damage when shed and ingested. The anti-ice in the aircraft supplied nose bullet is to protect against the error that the Air Florida Pilot made while taking off from DCA with a blocked EPR tube.

That's the short answer while leaving room for futher discussion
