Today whilst flying over French airspace we heard an interception communication on 121.5 of apparently Aeroflot 122 which was at FL340 heading 220. The intercepting aircraft was a US Marines jet who kept on asking the aircraft in distress which airfield they had departed from. Someone replied SIgonella and then the US Marines jet asked the lost comms aircraft to rock the wings. Thats the last i heard. Anyone knows anything else???....just out of interest.

Regards.:ok:

Heard the same on 121,5 today, but I think it was a US Marines a/c that had a loss of comm.

The accent of the intercepting a/c was definitely French and I was in (or near) French airspace when I heard the instruction to "US Marine 123456, ´eading 340, rock your wings if you ´ear me on 121,5."

The Russian appeared to be a seperate incident and it was the usual French efficiency at work again, as the Russian was trying to reply but the Frog was stepping all over him. ;)

Ah that explains it all...cause i was wondering what an Aeroflot was doing at Sigonella Military airbase.....

Cheers! :D
