Anyone know if Stansted, Manchester or Manston are 24 hour fields. I have a stupid trip this week that gets into RAF Mildenhall at 0200 BT and need an alternate, hopefully not on the Continent.

Assuming that you are a military flight, Coltishall is almost certainly your best alternate - RAF, 24hrs, a 7,500ft runway, and only 40nm away.

The list above are all rather further, but Brize Norton is also RAF and 24hrs with a bigger runway (10,000 ft), but is 85nm which is a long way when you're ready for bed! All the rest listed are further than Brize (except for Birmingham which is about the same and has 8550ft of runway).

Thanks for all the info. Yes, C-5 coming from the States. Usually, they don't plan arrivals for those hours, but some genius decided he just had to be there at 0200 BT. Like 5 hours would end civilization. I've been to Brize, Yeovilton, Prestwick, etc; but didn't think about Coltishall. Went into Waddington once when winds were out of limits at MLD, nice place, treated v. nice.

Servicing the Galaxy anywhere is pain in the bum and trying to do it at 2 AM is even worse. Thanks again.
