All of it's fleet are leased yes, though G-ZBAR was a dry lease from Air Malta so I'm assuming this has gone back already as they will want it back.

you really are a specimen - unable to comment respectfully and are a know it all here in this matter -- can you not debate or answer without such disdain in your tone, do you speak to your fellow crew that you have never met before like that?

I'm fully aware of what ATOL is - a past chairman is an old pal of mine and that of AITO as well

in this very sad time where 1000's of ex colleagues are now without jobs your silly attitude is not helpful nor is it to witness -

I do not have to explain myself to you - I know full well as to how this operation is running and will be funded

Quite an allegation you're making there. You're saying that not one single Monarch package holiday sold since Sep 2016 has been covered by an ATOL...?

It's a poorly chosen example, there was no need to name any operator, and the timing you quoted is out by quite a few years.

As for the air travel trust, I suggest you read the second paragraph of this link:

The government will be picking up the cost not the trust. You may have known how things were done in the past, this is not the case now.

So you obviously don’t know how this operation is running or how it will be funded. Many people have lost their jobs out of this, but while who picks up the tab is a complete irrelevance we may as well be as accurate as possible.

One suggests you stick to reunions at LHR.

Nope it would have been forcast long before that however they were attempting to sell off parts of the business to other airlines and salvage something. Likely there was a runt of it that would close no matter what.

What they found was nobody interested as Monarch became a "desperate seller" so why bother when it has nothing of value aside from slots which you may pick up cheaply from receiver.

Airlines can pick and chose staff without worrying they were inheriting their pensions or rights under TUPE or inheriting any big potential liabilities like pensions or length of sevice or business liabilities like leases.

As I recall it from the time, a long while ago, that with a partner I set up a ski holiday business, the ATOL bond placed (or insured) by a package tour operator is a proportionate contribution to the funds available for rescuing clients when a Tour Operator fails, but is not anywhere near the turnover of the operator providing the bond, simply because not every tour operator is expected to fail. It's exactly the same principle as insurance. I can see no reason why the CAA should not, could not, or would not, pay for the recovery of those Monarch clients covered by the ATOL bond.
