Seeing off airlines on existing routes
Airportplanner1
I can see them displacing GR on the Stansted route just like they did on the Gatwick - GCI route and to BlueIslands on the Southampton - GCI service.......just a moment, wasn't it the other way round? |
Everyone wait for Cornishsimon to post

NWI-DUB. Don't BE have a bit of controversial history with financial support on that one? :O

Are you sure that your listed age is correct rivet joint ?
34, maybe 14! What the hell have I done to upset you ? cs |
NCL-MAN would be a nice addition with the help of the fund I think
|
Not a chance the railways would murder them
|
I'm not so sure, even with travelling to the airport, checking in and flying down, it's about an hour shorter than the train, and that sometimes includes a change in York. Not to mention fares can be £100+ return whereas Flybe fares are normally in the region of £40-100
For a random date in June the train is £140 |
I doubt those Norwich Routes would actually be operated by Flybe themselves, considering the past like has been said with Dublin etc, with a smaller aircraft might just work, but we wait with baited breath on all of those applied for!:ok:

NCL-MAN would be a nice addition with the help of the fund I think No! When thinking about likely routes it's about finance and viability, not fantasy. |

And more recently Gill Air with Shorts 330/360s and Air Kilroe with J31s (may have operated from MME actually)

For a while during the early 1980's Dan Air used Twin Otters I think the flights started in Bournemouth, I did the BHX-MAN-NCL sector a few times, indeed there was a period when you had to change a/c in MAN, with the northbound service originating in ABZ, the a/c arrived together at MAN and you had to go into the terminal and walk back out again. I remember one trip when I passed Dennis Waterman and Rula Lenska as we changed a/c. The Co-pilot used to hand round coffee in a flask and biscuits! Happy Days sitting watching the flight deck!

At one point Dan Air used the only Nord 262 ever on the British register,
it was so noisy could hear it when it was on the ground from home 4 miles away. Ian |

The Dan Air service was twice daily Monday-Friday BOH-NCL -BOH Via BHX & MAN M/W/FRI and at one time via CWL & LPL Tue/Thu all with 48 pax HS748. At CWL and BHX only one engine was shut down to on/off load pax... Very quick turn arounds! The route operated through the seventies until mid eighties. Latterly with Twin Otter, then post Dan Air with Metropolitan SD330. The Dan Air Nord 262 was MAN based I believe - G-AYFR.
The predecessor to Flybe on the South Coast trunk route was BCAL with a daily BA.111-200 on the SOU-GLA route which operated for many years in the middle of the afternoon. FF |
LPL- AMS 3 times a day announced from September which will compete with the existing EZY services.

If they put the KL code on it it may work, but otherwise, easyJet are so established on the route on a point to point basis I'm not sure I'd back Flybe ... especially putting a Q400 against an A319/320
Time will tell I guess .. |
LPL AMS
easyJet frequencies are insufficient to meet demand, I have never been on that flight when it hasn't been rammed. There should be sufficient bread and butter available to fill a significant proportion of seats but it's the interlining possibilities which are more attractive. Flybe has already dipped a toe in the water on MAN AMS against competition from both KLM and easyJet so they know what they are up against and I'll guess they understand the demand as well.
