I find it interesting that planeme has claimed inside information on bmi yet he has posted solely on the subject of bmi's Manchester longhaul, with so many other things I am sure being discussed at 'high level' its interesting he/she has made no comment on anything else.

Now we have jackoshome, in their first post, claiming to know information given to the station managers in the U.S.

To quote the bard ' there is something rotten in the state of Denmark'.

Maybe we will know the reality today.

Why would Lufty insist on MAN L/H being closed before any deal. I am not suggesting what you say is incorrect, just why?

jackoshome 5th November 2008 08:24

jackoshome has spoken to the managers concerned.. therefore i can post here thanks

flyingfrog 5th November 2008 08:35

jackoshome - you say "airport managers at ORD and LAS have both been told already routes are cut", this is interesting considering that it's the same manager for both airports!! Maybe you spoke to him twice!!!!:ugh:

virgin_cc_wannabe 5th November 2008 09:01

so planeme:

1) in these high level meetings, its only MAN longhaul been on the agenda as route cuts, whilst I know that there have been a few LHR routes up for the chop?

2) if you are allowed in the high level meetings, you would be a member of staff, therefore signed into a confidentiality clause, and therefore breaking the terms of your contract discussing bmi's plans on here.

Im sure the 'high level' management you speak of would be more than intrested to know you are giving away company sensitive material

3) the 'announcement' is today, so stop winding everyone up

:mad::ugh:

doris1 5th November 2008 09:32

we at man have less than an hr to go before we find out anything, so at this moment in time it's WILD WILD rumours, certain people cannot wait to see the back of manchester longhaul, the jealousy seems to run very very deep!!! obviously they don't give a flying fig about the people who's job might be in jeopardy. god help them if man stays, there would be some very green people then wouldn't there!!!!
give us all a break and rally round for us please for everyones sake, cus if we go how long will it be before they re-structure LHR

Pure speculation on my part, but i suspect that it is/was bmi (rather than Luffty's) plan to move LH to LHR (if indeed that is confirmed today) and Luffty's would not want the closure of MAN LH to be seen as their first act in control.

Most will understand that using the 330 on routes where they can sell the posh seats up front makes more sense than using them for staff travel to Antiuga or Barbados! not that it will make it any easier for the staff involved.

Given its a Wed announcement it may not be all bad news, that tends to come on Friday's

doris1 5th November 2008 09:40

lets hope your right inkjet on the fact it's a wednesday and that's not a bad news day! fingers crossed for us

eggc 5th November 2008 09:42

I've got everyhting crossed for you Doris, if its any consolation :ok:

doris1 5th November 2008 09:55

it is thankyou egg, they are just assembling in man crewroom now, plenty of crew and faces that haven't been seen before, the meeting starts at 11.clock (kitchen clock) lol, let's hope the outcome is favourable for all.

INKJET 5th November 2008 10:07

Finger and legs crossed Doris, BTW which management heads are there? NT AG TB?

Keep us posted luv

doris1 5th November 2008 10:12

i'm at home, but in constant contact with 1 of the guys in the crewroom, not sure which if any management are there, union reps are though, should get a phone call in an hr or so, just been on flybmi website and it's selling tickets via ord for las in june with united, so not looking good, but they are selling anu & bgi in june with us, if i have read it right.

virgin_cc_wannabe 5th November 2008 10:17

unable to process the chicago flights on the system after march, they seem to be fiddling with the website. maybe a sign that they are removing it off the system?

hope this doesnt happen

INKJET 5th November 2008 10:20

From NT

Communication to the trade and passengers will also commence today to ensure reaccommodation as required. Services to Chicago will cease on 15 January 2009 and to the Caribbean/Las Vegas in April 2009 after the peak Easter season has finished.

virgin_cc_wannabe 5th November 2008 10:25

oh well, yet another downward spiral for manchester

2 legacy carriers down, more than likely more will follow, not long until the tumbleweed starts to roll across the runways

a sad sad day for manchester, I really thought bmi were happy here

mutualswap 5th November 2008 10:28

RIP MAN L/H

lets hope all staff are ok :{

Halfwayback 5th November 2008 10:31
