I really can't see that BmiBaby will start operating a BCN unless they plan to do it on the back of the first a/c back for a night stop which will be approx 22:10 departure. With the current schedule i really can't see the IBZ returning either eve though it was very popular.

However if they move the BFS to a 22:10 departure and place it on the back of a different flight, then it will be possible to operate another international on a weekday with a departure of 20:40 which was similar to the IBZ departure last year.

Unless a 4th a/c arrives which is possibly unlikely then don't think were to expect any shocks.

CWL Passenger Figures for Today

Was talking to one of the guys at security and he said we were expecting less than 800 passengers in the airport today from all carriers, this compares from over that figure daily from BmiBaby alone in the summer.

Hopefully Flybe will be able to pick that up in W08

iflycwl 17th January 2008 09:28

Well 441+11 passengers just touched down from Montego Bay with Virgin Atlantic Airways - it was just a fuel stop enroute to LGW but so nice to see Virgin on the ground towering above the 737's, Dash 8 and J31 !!!

On the ground for just one hour for some extra juice then off to LGW

BRS-BHX catching up?????

BRS are rapidly catching BHX up on pax numbers
Birdscarer maybe until the Ryanair announcement on Monday. MOL expects BHX to be handling 5 million FR passengers by 2012. Making BHX 14.5 Million passengers per annum. Birmingham isn't entirely relient on two major LOCOs for growth unlike BRS either.

birdscarer 18th January 2008 00:39

Daza - not a swipe at BHX. I would be doing that on the Birmingham thread. However BHX pax numbers have remained at a steady Circa 10 Million for some time now with no substantial growth. That is all I say on the matter on the CWL thread.

A BA286 747-400 also on the ground yesterday from San Fransisco for a fuel and go, but only 213+1 on board. This was due to the incident at Heathrow as LHR re-opened as it was on finals to CWL. Luckily for us it was the only BA longhaul to divert.

The Virgin 747 arrived before the incident.

Airport Website

I don't know if anybody else has noticed but for once, the airport seems up to date with events that are happening on it's website.
  • They are advertising the jobs fare,
  • have 2 competitions
  • advertising the latest flybe route
  • announced it's 5% increase in passengers for 2007
  • and announced the Aer Arann 1,000,000 seat sale.
It's nice to see the website being up to date instead of 3 days begind other announcements. Is this a start of a new trend due to new management or is it just a one off?

CWL_Chris 19th January 2008 11:44

I had too noticed the more regular updates, lets hope for more of the same! :)

What Eastern aircraft is operating to Lyon from Cardiff today (carrying the Ospreys rugby team for the Heineken Cup match in France)? Saab 2000 or a Jetstream?

BFS/BHD 19th January 2008 12:14

EZE1951 is a Saab 2000.

nospeedrestriction9 19th January 2008 12:31

The Airport website updated, surely not?!?

Peter Phillips is finally doing his job!

Richard Taylor 19th January 2008 17:25

Can't imagine a bunch of burly rugby types heading for the southern half of France in a JS41! :p

mathers_wales_uk 19th January 2008 17:53

they used the S20 to play a match last year too in the heineken cup, also some use Aer Arann and Air Southwest etc.

The Blues obviously use BmiBaby when they can as it is their sponsors, but that will not be a private flight.

PeterP 21st January 2008 08:32

Ruddy cheek, Nospeed!
Actually, it's not me that does it. I have people ...

The Job fair is today at the airport, be interesting to hear peoples views later regarding the turnout.

From What I Heard, Not A Very Good Turn Out.

WHBM 27th January 2008 14:21

Just wondering how the loads are turning out on the service to Valley. Ever get into double figures ?

4 engines 4 longhaul 27th January 2008 14:27

Services to Valley are doing exceptionaly well per press releases etc, I believe they are still on near full or full loads on quite a few flights a week.

boyyo 28th January 2008 15:12

does anyone know the reason why Bmi only have the 2 a/c here today?

Dragon tracker 28th January 2008 20:37

I am just speculating, but I assume as it is the quitest time of the year, where yields are at their lowest on nearly all sectors for all airlines, they (baby) are probably using a bit of down time to do maintanence for their fleet and saving a bit of money by not needlessly operating sectors with low yields.

Little Blue 28th January 2008 20:50

Yr not far off the mark, there ! ;)

mathers_wales_uk 28th January 2008 21:37

It probably was sent up to East Mids or Birmingham to cover tech delays etc. An aircraft the extra aircraft is due tomorrow at 14:35. Loosing the a/c cause 45 mins delay to the EDI as it had to operate on the back of the AMS.

I wonder what the back-up plan wil be for BmiBaby if the Polish flights fail again this summer, been looking at the flights for the summer and they are showing quite empty.
