I hear on the grape vine that there are developments for Eastern at NCL, especially with regard to the SAABs

Any views on Eastern dropping BHX-INV from Apr 08? Goes down to 1 daily in Mar and then zero when booking on their web site.

JDB1052 1st February 2008 17:31

Major announcement now on easterns website - increased frequency on most Newcastle routes and replacement of Jetstreams with Saab 2000.

Looks like a bit of a bun fight with BE ahead :)

Richard Taylor 1st February 2008 17:37

Where are the NCL JS41s off to (given the demise of the local airline up in ABZ). Or are they up for disposal?

And any more news on more Saabs/*Dash 8 (*as indicated by RL in a previous interview).

Cpt. Chaos 1st February 2008 17:41

There are rumours of one more SAAB and hunting for others.

At least with the Jetstream your heart does not miss a beat everytime the wheels come down or not!!!!

That is surprising. Though BE are starting the route they are only once daily so no day return option unlike Eastern. Yet on the MAN route, BE are offering day returns so I would have thought Eastern would have been more likely to drop that route instead

Cpt. Chaos 2nd February 2008 14:32

The gear will come down on the Dash, that's not the problem, it's just will they stay down..!!
To be fair though and not wanting to take sides, Flybe have been ok with that problem so far.. :D
I think there are interesting times ahead for Eastern, it will be interesting to see how they adapt to these new challenges..

mathers_wales_uk 4th February 2008 10:39

Eastern have announced extra rotations on quite a lot of routes, when will they go on sale? I still can't find them in the booking engine at the moment and the announcement was on friday.

Wellington Bomber 4th February 2008 13:25

Typical Eastern

The upstairs lot forget to mention it to the downstairs lot who actually put all of the wheels in motion.

i.e crewing, operations and the tech guys who run the website

mathers_wales_uk 5th February 2008 15:29

Does anyone know when these extra rotations will go on sale? They still not showing on the website.

Richard Taylor 5th February 2008 16:03

Soon, one imagines. ;)

mathers_wales_uk 5th February 2008 16:11

I would hope so considering they want to start operating them in less than a month

combineharvester 5th February 2008 18:16

Ere, think this is the right place to post? I'm holed up in Arlanda for what seems like forever, noticed an eastern saab here today, is that a new route/charter or random occurence?

Richard Taylor 5th February 2008 18:17

It's a random charter. ;)

combineharvester 5th February 2008 18:18

clears that one up! many thanks!

Wellington Bomber 6th February 2008 09:08

Richard Taylor

You are wrong, They have a wet lease for six months up in Sweden, cannot remember the airline

Richard Taylor 6th February 2008 09:20

WB, my reply was meant in jest, hence my ";)" . :ok:

Richard Taylor 21st February 2008 18:47

Blissness Class?

What's this? £49 fares on Eastern? CAN'T BE!!!! ;)

Changing their biz model to stave off Flybe???

Are these fares across the network?

spanishflea 21st February 2008 21:41

£49 oneway, £99 return. Base prices have been like this on competing routes for ages so I don't see what is new...
