Birdscarer, my dear friend, I could not say.....as I am not sure myself anymore.

The frequent flyer scheme is for all passengers as is economy plus if they are willing to pay it. There are some benefits for business travelers compared to Eastern which is why Flybe have so many corporate clients. But that is drifting on to another topic.

Serenity 27th November 2007 16:46

So, thoughts on the impact on Eastern, of the new Flybe routes announced today, many directly mirroring T3`s own routes.
They seem to be obviously trying to make life as hard as possible for them !

Business Class Airline?? ..... anyone else ever travelled to Southampton in a Jetstream in July with a 20 min stop over in Newcastle on a remote stand wearing a suit??! ..... and trying to go for a pee?

CentreFix25 28th November 2007 13:56

I flew to Birmingham on a Jetstream once, i drive all of the time now!

If i were FlyBe i would target every EZE route, slightly reduced frequency and use a Dash 8 (their quite close to doing that now actually).

FS01 28th November 2007 20:14

Eastern will not be able to compete with the x2 daily BHX-IOM next summer launched by FlyBe! Its as simple as that. What for Manx Regional? the Eastern owned handling agents in IOM?

Serenity 3rd January 2008 18:19

Happenings at Eastern?

Anyone know the details?

"A multi-million pound investment backed by the Birmingham office of Kaupthing Singer & Friedlander has given a major boost to regional airline Eastern Airways."

ConstantFlyer 3rd January 2008 21:32

See the IOM thread for more details.

T3 flights to SOU from LBA

Anyone know why the Eastern website shows 3 flights from LBA to SOU on MonWedFri and yet only 2 flights on TueThu - missing out the 1410 departure and yet on all days 3 flights operate from SOU to LBA?

I've checked the departures on previous TuTh on the LBIA website and the 1410 flight appears to operate?

I would not jump to any conclusions... you would be surprised just how few pax Eastern need on board to actually make money!!!

FS01 A notice in last weeks IOM Courier.'Declaration of Dissolution Pursuant to Section 190(3)

000471V FLIGHT SUPPORT LIMITED.
Apparently this company has applied to the FSC for dissolution.Perhaps should should be asking what is the future for FS01.:\

EMX81L 27th January 2008 10:26

The future for Flight Support is very bright actually.

Just a name change to 'Airbase Flight Support' I believe

FS01 27th January 2008 17:15

granddaddy.... in answer to your question I believe the answer is very bright. lets wait and see. Flight Support is becoming Airbase Flight Support hence the dissolution of the name. Hope the info answers your question :ok:

Wellington Bomber 30th January 2008 13:17

What is the future going to bring to Eastern now that Flybe are going to base an aircraft in Newcastle and are going to tramp all over the rose bed of Eastern.

Is RL going to compete or just wriggle away. Flybe's T&C's are better for flight crew so are Eastern going to lose more pilots or are terms going to improve, something has to give!

Flybe are slowly but surely starting to trample all over the prime routes

anybody have any views

airhumberside 30th January 2008 13:19

Remember BE's attempt at LBA-ABZ - once daily against a more frequent Eastern service. It being pulled. I can see the same happenning with NCL-ABZ. This is not serious competition for T3. Go twice daily and then Eastern might have something to be concerned about

Though i take the general point about BE being a threat to Eastern

Cpt. Chaos 30th January 2008 13:29

Outlook... Bleak

Sadly I feel the writing is on the wall for Eastern as we know it...

Things will have to change.. and I'm sure RL has a cunning plan.. he's not daft when it comes to it...

Will he pull away from the scheduled side of things and concentrate on the ad hoc work... or cash in and start something else..

Flybe may be winning battles but will they have the endurance to win the war?

Lets hope Eastern stays strong, it would be a shame to loose another airline in this country, you never know some good may come of it. :ugh:

tornchecklist 30th January 2008 13:58

Nah... Capt. Chaos I dont think the writings on the wall with this one at all....

Look at the timings of the Flybe from Ncl to Abz - no good for the oilies needing to get the early helo's to the rigs in the morning or for the guys getting off and wanting to get home at tea time. I dont think this will take any of Easterns BUSINESS pax at all - just a bit of leisure custom using the midday flight.

Same with the Ncl-Cwl recently announced by Flybe - completely wrong time of day for the business folk.

I think the more important story lies behind the millions invested in Eastern over the Christmas period - does anyone know any more about this?? C'mon GMIMA surely at least you know something!!

exeside 30th January 2008 20:05

Flybe vs Eastern

Flybe will go double daily Cardiff and treble daily ABZ when they deploy second plane in NCL. LBA-ABZ was only cancelled because there was too much traffic on EXT-LBA and EXT-ABZ so the LBA-ABZ throughrunning traffic was dilutionary.

LBA-ABZ would return once the base deal with Bridgepoint is concluded. MD wants Eastern out.

airhumberside 31st January 2008 08:44

Why does the MD want Eastern out?

airhumberside 1st February 2008 10:03

Eastern going from 3 to 4 weekdaily on both LBA-ABZ and LBA-SOU

Richard Taylor 1st February 2008 10:20

MD STILL want Eastern out???? :hmm:
