If they are agreed nationally, then one of more dire warning about a no deal Brexit may be overblown.

Depends on the agreement. There are a number of existing agreements between non EU and EU states that pre-date the EU asserting sole negotiating authority. If there is no agreement between the EU as a whole and the country then the old agreements remain in force. Once the EU and that country sign a new agreement it takes precedence. This is what happened when the EU-US Openskies agreement came into force. The old agreements, e.g. the US-NL open skies and Bermuda II all lapsed. If the UK leaves the EU without a deal, or with a deal that doesn't include remaining in the EU negotiated agreements then they loose the rights in those agreements. It remains to be seen if the other countries would honour the previous agreements as these technically ceased to exist when the EU agreement was made.

Note, this is totally separate from the fact that, as it stands, the UK has no international authority to oversee type design and continued airworthiness, which could be far more problematic.

Thanks for clarifying that. The apocalyptic scenario you describe in your final paragraph appears even to me, as a remainer, a very remote possibility. As it would affect not just the EU and the UK but potentially have worldwide consequences, other more powerful nations would in all probability bang the UK and EU's head's together and force some sort of agreement between the two parties.

Are you referring to the potential to not revert to previous agreements or the issue with the CAA not currently having the authority to issue type certificates and oversee continued airworthiness of airlines? If it is the former, then there is no issue for the EU as they are a continuing entity. If it is the later, the CAA recognise this and hence why they are scrambling to stand up a capability if the announced preferred idea of staying in EASA is not possible. Note, currently membership in EASA falls under the ECJ for dispute resolution and the like, so this is a sticking point.

Without turning this into (yet another) Brexit thread, inept as the government (in fact all our current crop of politicians) is, they are not, I believe, on the whole lemmings. Only the most extreme of extremists would want such a doomsday scenario to happen, and they aren't the majority of either wing of the argument. Same I believe goes for the EU Commission, and the member states.

Other issues could go pear shaped, I don't see this one going that way however red the red lines are, on either side.

A lot of investment in a triple airbridge at GLA for an intermittent seasonal A380. With month on month decreases recently, wonder if A380 will promote enough existing pax to stick with it for the 'superjumbo' to come back after this summer.
Nice to see it at all I suppose.

What went wrong with Emirates LHR flights today?
EK1 arrived approx 4.5 hours late
EK31 then arrived approx 40 minutes early.
Finally, EK29 arrived approx 2 hours late.
All 3 arrived in a 15 minute window! I wouldn't like to have been the bloke on the ground tasked with finding a space to put them!

Unforecasted fog in Dubai in the early morning hours meant the place was a mess with some 20+ diversions.

KelvinD 30th March 2019 08:51

Thanks for the info. It must have been bedlam at Heathrow trying to squeeze 3 A380s in all at the same time!

FFHKG 30th March 2019 12:29

How many A380 capable gates are there in T3? Sufficient or did they go remote?

Rutan16 30th March 2019 13:38

T3 Has six Code F three bridge contact stands
