Just thinking ahead to next year with the Summer Ad-hoc slot ban traditionally starting from June 1st at 22:59.
Next year the Champions League Final is at Wembley and always generates lots of charters & bizjets with visiting fans. It is in the evening of the 1st so all those flights will start departing from 00:30 on 2nd. In previous years Luton & Stansted (Gatwick a handful) picked up these, if it is between two none UK teams, say an Italian and a Spanish, where the hell are the planes going to go? I'm assuming summer slot restrictions will be deferred a day. Luton residents plan a weekend visiting family & friends out of area with an overnight stay! |

What happened to having a second runway at Gatwick ? If you are going to point at short-termism then there are many more deserving examples than a provincial airport.

Have LR/LBC/Concession found auditors prepared to sign off the accounts?
Rumoured the second appointed failed to agree and sign off allegedly? |
After following this saga for years the accounts still need to be signed off for 2018/19 by the auditors that did the audit even though they resigned. The bottom line is that they still won’t sign them off after finding new discrepancies. This is because LRT/LBC has valued the airport higher than its true worth according to the auditors by not using standard accounting practices. One of the reasons for giving a higher valuation is that the debts are secured on the value of the airport even through the Council, who loaned the money, already own the airport.
Regarding the latest audit for 2021/2022 for Luton Rising Temperature and the press reports over the extraordinary losses, https://www.lutontoday.co.uk/news/pe...ompany-4192061 the council has issued a press release saying the £232.1m loss is not the real loss, as the operating loss was only £15m. The auditors report actually says the operating loss is not £15m but £137.8m. Also the accounts, as well as in previous years, are qualified accounts due to the valuation issue not being resolved. |

Expansion Plans
I was looking at the plans again and noticed that new Hangers are earmarked around the northern FBO areas, Signature T2 & Harrods.
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....59140e8a4b.jpg Shown as 18 here in blue. With 2 very different levels of apron currently is this more for Signature? Harrods, I am told have to turn away business at the moment so with a squeeze on facilities at STN what might be offered to them? On a separate note, I see Wizzair are starting Budapest Cairo International, who would bet Luton will be next on the agenda? |
Noticed Delta closure extended again to 2/7.
What WIP is still going on? |

A friend of the wife lands at Luton Airport at 23:40 on Friday night and takes 3 hours to exit the terminal, which was longer than the actual flight. It would seem that the airport has major staffing issues or is it that the physical infrastructure is just not in place?

What WIP is still going on? In other news, easyJet's Belfast City flights start today and with them comes another based A320. That takes easyJet's based fleet to 24 (16xA320, 8xA319) for the summer, which matches summer 2019 - though they had more A319s back then. |
My experience is that Friday and Saturday nights there is increased absenteeism of ground staff that is a reflection of the poor wages given thus producing very poor handling at LTN - all a reflection of trying to do everything for the lowest cost. Along a similar line, in the above diagram yellow infills that I presume will be done at the lowest cost will not include any travelators to the south stands and so look one hell of a walk for some less mobile.

Wait for the Egyptian Govt to announce a formal opening date (or even fully open) the new Grand Egyptian Museum, and demand for travel to/from Giza-Sphinx airport will likely increase significantly

Giza-Sphinx airport is about an hour's drive from the centre of Cairo. Technically Giza is a separate city but it is now effectively part of the Cairo urban area - they are divided by a 10 minute walk across a bridge over the Nile - think of Buda and Pest as separate areas in Hungary. Giza-Sphinx airport is marketed by Wizz as an airport serving Cairo, much like Ryanair market Bergamo airport as serving Milan. However, Cairo's urban area covers a much larger sprawl than Milan. Plenty of opportunity for a journalist with limited understanding to publish a confusing news article.

I would be focusing on those 2 tiny yellow areas that are added to the existing terminal, as they will add an extra 3.5 million passengers to the terminal. Standing room only?
Newer aircraft remember are quieter and produce less polution. It is not as if anything extra will occur at busy hours, more use of the quieter periods late morning/early afternoon which are being held back because of 18m pax limit. The tiny yellow areas are 1,870m2. |
Of course extra passengers will occur during busy periods. Do you think they have added 7 stands just for business jets and to stand empty? As I said, the terminal extensions are tiny.

A number of charter flights to Graz this week - F1 related - no impact on terminal passengers as handled by FBOs.
