The recession in the UK is going to be long. It does not matter what the Bank of England says or does - people know that they are going to have to be careful with money for the next five years - minimum. They know this because we went throiugh this post 2008. That recovery eventually took almost ten years. Just in time for Covid.

Goodbye to skiing flights from Luton then, as global warming is unstoppable? Maybe Luton will be doing its bit due to a lack of demand. Flights this Saturday to Geneva from only £39.99 including taxes for those who want walking holidays in the Alps. Trouble is there isn’t much demand.
Which is why the STN runway resurfacing project starts this weekend. Let's see who misses the 00:01 deadline and what Luton picks up. |
How much slack is there in the system at Luton to accept Ryanair B737s from STN post midnight ? In particular, how many remote parking stands are available at LTN, particularly on a Sunday night ? Are there any other major constraints on FR inward diversions to LTN ?
Does FR have coaches on standby at LTN to handle the inevitable ? |

Remember we are entering the super quiet season with everyone back at work/school/college etc.

21 flights tomorrow to "ski" resorts in Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy and Bulgaria.
To say nothing of four biz jet departures. |

Begs the question then why Easyjet is running 11 outbound flights on Saturday to a near snowless Switzerland.
On a separate theme, a busy airport does not just affect direct airport jobs. This from an expanded catering operation to serve the higher end customers https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-n...ndon-locations |

If not we will just see continued stream of Global Express and Gulfstreams continuing which do not help the airport owner and bring further income and employment benefits to the town.

So maybe the constant stream of private jets does have a benefit?

What maintenance? Most of it has gone, which is a real shame, as they were well paid jobs. Now it is a case of working in a burger bar or equivalent, as a career choice for an expanded airport.

Oh dear, TUI & Easyjet engineering guys will be happy with that. I'm afraid it costs alot less to fly to Eastern Europe or Far East and get heavy maintenance done there now or sub out to specialists at Lasham.

Is that why Gulfstream headed out to Farnborough?
Easyjet have most of their heavy work done by 3rd parties. TUI I don't think have capacity for 3rd party work. The days of MAEL have long gone but their old hangers are always blocked at night so make them less attractive. I think Lufty Tech looked at them for Wizzair at some point. |
Back in May last year there was talk on here of Gama Aviation creating a maintenance facility in one of the ex-Monarch hangars, did it come to anything ?
|
Gulfstream are not running their own fleet but are doing 99% of work for their customers and being near to the customer makes sence. |

A large pay rise was inevitable with or without a trade union as the company was running out of staff so it is good to see. A consequence of Brexit and Covid where people left and never came back. New staff were hard to find and soon left.
|
x4 DHLs overnight, is that a consequence of you know who being closed from 00:01?
