The route is operated by a Saab 2000 but as an aside, the JS41 is a very comfortable aircraft for the missions it is intended for in my opinion.

It is however a shame that the ABZ route can not operate viably non-stop on its own. At least though by adding on the NCL stop, they are looking a ways to continue operating the service more cost effectily and sustainably whilst also opening up this additional connection to the North East England.

Interesting. I never thought I'd say this, but the rail and existing flight connections between London and Newcastle are so good that if I was going to drop in somewhere in that part of the world I'd go for somewhere with a worse rail service and less flight competition, where announcing a flight to London would generate its own publicity free of charge... Teesside...

Lack of innovation is the hallmark of Flybe in recent times.

JobsaGoodun 13th Nov 2018 18:54

However, this is nothing to do with Flybe.

astern old all the commercial cards and will have made this decision entirely independent of Flybe. They just use the brand for sales and distribution purposes.

Flybe operate the LCY-Aberdeen route, twice daily. Even if Eastern (branded as Flybe) have devised the idea to stop at Newcastle, Flybe will have been involved.

LOT Polish Airlines have won a tender to fly from Vilnius, Lithuania to London City. The route has been made a PSO route by Lithuania. They’ll fly twice daily. Most likely using E190.

LOT will go from no ops at LCY to serving Warsaw, Budapest and Vilnius twice daily each.

Thought they’d try Brac instead, with its short runway I thought it would be the perfect niche to exploit with easy access to the island

London City has reveled CGI images of their plans for the new terminal. Looks very nice.

Kevin Patience, Design Director at The Design Solution, said: “A fluid lined interior design encouraging passenger flow has been inspired by the River Thames, which is right on the airport’s doorstep.
Actually it's not. You would hope the Director of a design company could understand a map. But that doesn't stop many going through the terminal looking out at the Royal Albert Dock and calling it "the river".

BA Cityflyer are dropping LCY-Paris Orly from the end of May. LCY now doesn't have a Paris service.

LCY-NCL-ABZ apparently now longer bookable from April onwards. Looks as if they have thrown in the towel and are not interested to put up a fight with Loganair from SEN.

SARF 26th Mar 2019 17:51

The new terminal info graphic looks lovely as there are 6 people in it..

Expressflight 2nd Apr 2019 07:03

It looks as though Jota may have taken over the BACF work at LCY from WDL, who had been expected to continue flying through April. The WDL 146 has positioned back to Germany and G-SMLA commenced BACF flights this morning. There was speculation this might happen following the recent LCY-EDI-DUS debacle involving WDL.

I have not used LCY for a couple of decades but considering a trip in June as it is near enough to where my partner's parents live. Whilst I would use the long term park, how easy is it to drop seniors off 'at the door' before I go to the car park and walk back? Thanks.

Fly through regularly, most recently on Weds.

Drop off is easy, a short 1 minute walk if that to the terminal and off you go. Pick up is just next to the long stay car park, but it gets pretty busy and I'd probably suggest just keep walking to long stay.

PAXboy 7th Apr 2019 16:03

Thanks JSCL, most helpful. On return we may then get a wheelchair for him or both. But, being a stubborn old so-and-so, of course he does not like going in a wheelchair as he says he can walk. Which he can - but not airport ditances!
