It's a highly inefficient way of adding capacity though, and nothing more than a short term solution. If Aer Lingus genuinely wanted their BHD base to work, they would have leased in an additional A320 for the summer period to operate the sun routes. Simple economics dictates that the only options left for Aer Lingus are to expand their BHD operations within the next couple of years, or leave the market altogether. There is simply no third option.

I think that is has been 100% confirmed that in all likelihood it is entirely pluasable that the rumours of KLMs move although based on an element of what some my construe as been completely factual is indeed no longer understand to be a true reflection of what is intended to be the intentions of KLM

Interesting to note looking at avios it's now possible to use points on EI flights to LHR, and there's times BA is classed as peak and EI is off peak.

Marketing is a bit like a religious cult
Give them lots of money and they convince you something good is on its way if you believe enough.

I see from an article in the on-line magazine from the Routes conference that KB is singlehandedly responsible for the campaign to remove APD, and the photo used was taken on the Belfast International stand.

Maybe is award for trying.

EI-STA is painted asl white, or off white lol

El Bunto 30th Apr 2018 14:57

B733 EI-STA arrived about 30 mins ago

Slightly confused initially as to why a 737 was going overhead into City until I remembered this thread.

sealink 30th Apr 2018 15:26

So the FAO and AGP start tomorrow. I am sure the local EI crew will find this strange to see a flight depart with their flight number but they don't get to operate it.

Alteagod 30th Apr 2018 18:19

I think one EI cabin crew will be onboard each flight

Good point. A number of years ago I flew to MAN with Flybe and the flight was operated by VLM and there was one uniformed Flybe crew working along side the VLM crew member.

I am sure Flybe crews would be able to give them a wee hand getting their heads round it !!

"SHAMROCK 97A" was the first service for EI-STA

BHD2BFS 2nd May 2018 22:39

So another route loss for the airport. IOM albeit a small one it’s still another route to go.
Iceland in May. IOM in June. Not a good start to a summer season.
Atleast the Airport won that marketing award though

DC9_10 2nd May 2018 22:58

Newcastle also axed from June

BHD2BFS 2nd May 2018 23:20

So 3 routes and potentially KLM from October?
and personally the fact that ASL are operating EI summer routes this year spells the last season to me

Very confused, they were just about to ramp-up to twice-daily as of 12 June. Are we sure someone isn't just over-reacting to the discontinuance of the current flight number?

Looks like last flight is operating 11th June as flights are no longer available to book on BE’s website beyond that date
