Nice summary there Southside, will indeed be interesting. We all predicted the boom in capacity after MON's demise, time will tell if everyone makes it through 2018

southside bobby 23rd Nov 2017 12:29

2nd of the short EXS STN/EWR shopping series flew today...Equipment again B752/W.

pamann 23rd Nov 2017 12:39

So for summer 2018 there are as many airlines/operators flying from STN to ALC as there are from LGW.
Looking at AGP there are five airlines/operators (that's one more than LGW).

It's definitely going to be an interesting summer, surely something's got to give as that's a lot of available seats to these destinations?

EZY A320neo diverts from LTN...ex LIS

ericlday 23rd Nov 2017 13:23

So did a few last night.....must be short of real news !

toledoashley 23rd Nov 2017 15:13

I would also add JetBlue to Southside's list... We should hear within the next few months if they are to launch US-UK.

southside bobby 23rd Nov 2017 15:23

Nope ericlday.....all going well ta.....:))

STN406 23rd Nov 2017 15:50

If people are interested a friend of mine let me know some arriving flight figures today.
PC1181 from SAW: 139
KK2001 from IST: 125
EZY3246 from LJU: 156
Also told rumours circulating that SAT 2 is going to be getting an upgrade in the near future.

southside bobby 23rd Nov 2017 16:35

STN406..
Thanks for the info & figures..
PC1181 operated by B738.
KK2001 operated by A320 today..this time of year varies between A319/320/321.
EZY3246 operated by 319....All good loadings but EZY 100% load factor which indicates that the routes EZY retain & fly at STN are v well patronized.
SAT 2 interesting as I thought it had work carried out in more recent times..but perhaps being readied for Primera & WOW...Any more news if/when it comes to hand would be great to hear.

STN406 23rd Nov 2017 17:26

Yeah all good loads especially EZY. I think KK and PC both take Cargo to so may make up on the loads their to make it more profitable?
I don’t believe so, flown from SAT 2 gates 20-39 (upstairs) and 81-88 (downstairs/over bridge) over last few years and both where not in the best shape. I think Ryanair’s SAT 3 is a better experience.
Possibly but I personally think SAT 2 will be done at the same time, during or not long after the current terminal is reshaped when the new arrivals building goes up. But who knows. If I get told any more news from my friend that I can pass on I will do.

southside bobby 23rd Nov 2017 18:32

Appreciate what you say STN406...Thanks..

pabely 23rd Nov 2017 18:45

EZY3246 operated by 319....All good loadings but EZY 100% load factor which indicates that the routes EZY retain & fly at STN are v well patronized.
EZY published average load factor for year across all routes at 92.6% so anything below that would be a worry but does sound like it would justify a 320 :ok:

Is JetBlue on your particular wish list as I'm not aware of them going to announce Trans Atlantic in 'the next few months', although I would very much like to see them go transatlantic and hopefully Stansted will be their airport of choice but JetBlue have made no press release or any official announcement regarding going transatlantic and it may well be the case that they don't enter the market at all.

So you can't really add JetBlue to the list as no one knows what's going to happen 'in the next few months' not even JetBlue.

toledoashley 24th Nov 2017 05:47

Representatives of JetBlue have been over here doing a tour of airports - Gatwick, Stansted, Luton & Birmingham from what I've heard. In their latest press conference they said they would be making an announcement shortly if they are doing t/a or not.

Navpi 24th Nov 2017 06:34

Jet Blue is great news
I'm suprised they didn't go to Manchester in view of the MAG ownership but there again I doubt there is any room left for slots or based aircraft.

The expansion at Manchester appears incredible, as these things are cyclical is STN not getting a similar capacity uplift ?

whitelighter 24th Nov 2017 07:05

With all these Spanish routes, it amazes me BCN from stansted is still only served by FR.

Even Reus now has FR and J2. I'd have though BCN could support another few flights a day. I fly a lot and the FR services are always expensive (compared to Gatwick options or Luton options) and absolutely full to the brim

LAX_LHR 24th Nov 2017 07:16

JetBlue have been at MAN too, a few times. I’ve seen one visit myself.

southside bobby 24th Nov 2017 08:25

Navpi.
STN does not have a 9 unit void as MAN.
As posts above tho STN is increasing Med flights across 2018...inc EXS..RYR..Primera & CCM with Sicily.

southside bobby 24th Nov 2017 08:40

JBU interesting...but several options available to them of course..
Not proceeding.... tho they have the right equipment on order.
Proceeding.... tho would better yields be obtainable in their own backyard?.
Proceeding... but not with their own metal (to gauge the dividends perhaps to start) but a marketing exercise with a slightly more established Trans Atlantic carrier?..NAX making public overtures concerning a venture was my latest understanding & would open up the larger market at LGW too.Win/win for both.
It appears there is no shortage of UK airports enticing them then, but this story has been circulating for many months.

southside bobby 24th Nov 2017 09:34

EXS announce a new Sunday departure STN-CFU for Summer 2108.(It all helps).Total now for CFU 3 P.W.
