For Wizz a 7.20am departure is pretty late for them, as they get nearly all their fleet in the air at other bases before 6.30am local times, which would be, 5.30am UK time.

Many Wizz flights will be arriving from Eastern Europe into Luton, before the first departure of the 7.20am flight.

If Wizz have bought the Monarch slots would that not restrict their departure times as I can't remember Monarch having any departures between 6am and 7am?

As far as I am aware Wizz have purchased some Monarch slots but not all, see Mr Varadi's statement of a little while ago when commenting on the Wizz expansion at Luton.

Given the total cost of the LTN system and eventual necessary capacity (if we see a 2nd terminal or further expanded terminal within the CTA), I was hoping to see something slightly more ambitious.

Forward thinking has never been the real strength of the Council.

In the article, there is a picture with a dome like structure between the control tower and EasyJet aircraft. Is the DART station actually going to look like that at all ? Or is it just artistic licence ? I wish they'd just show what it will actually look like.

Going on previous experience, I predict the actual station will look more like the shanty town in the picture posted above. :hmm:

Whatever happened to the idea we had, before Parkway was built, of having the terminal building(s) at the bottom of the hill and just a departure lounge at the top of the hill? I remember telling Princess Anne about it. ;-)

The Luton Interchange as it was to be known. The LCC's would have loved it - enough passengers manage to miss their flights now with the gates only a couple of hundred yards from check-in. Imagine how many more would miss their flights with their boarding gate over a mile away, and all the rebooking fees that would be extracted from them!

You should have told someone else rather than the likes of Princess Ann as she obviously didn't forward your ideas to anyone from the council or airport and the conversation probably went right over her 'bouffant' hairstyle.

If we're name dropping can I just say when I was younger my first autograph was with Larry Hagman at the height of his career as JR Ewing and after watching 'The Feud' on BBC2 recently reminded me from when I was 18 and I was dead nervous about asking Betty Davis for her autograph which she kindly obliged and asked me loads of questions, although I have had the fortune opportunity to meet many famous people over the years I think Betty Davies is the ultimate.

Well I think the Air Rail link is very exciting and will go a long way to improve the airports reputation and what passengers who arrive by rail have been screaming out for!

The announcement of the new contractors, just confirms things are progressing and not a pipe dream.

It will make the airport comparable to the North Terminal at Gatwick where you take the transit to the station located at the South Terminal.

I don't quite understand all the negativity with regards to this, and why people are saying it should be more ambitious?!

Luton tax payers benefit very nicely from the airport, with apparently £26 million going into the 2016/17 pot!

The loan is only being guaranteed by the council, but fully paid for by the airport! It was the council that has awarded short term leaseholds for the airport management and of course while they continue to own the airport, they are the only realistic people who can fund long term expensive projects!

The enabling work for the rail link has been taking place for a few months now so it is no pipe dream.

I agree it is a very exciting time for the airport and the appearance of the CTA next Christmas will once again look very different from this year and the year before.

What we have learned over the years is that artists impressions and the final product can be very different. Also the airport will no doubt be looking to save every penny it can to fit in with its low cost image.

It wouldn't surprise me that the seamless transfer of passengers from Parkway to the Dart is interrupted by a 10 minute queue to buy a ticket for the final leg. Hopefully this won't happen but most passengers arriving at Parkway now don't seem to buy through tickets so I don't know what is going to change when the link opens.

I would hope that at least a smart ticketing will be available. Bear in mind that in the railway industry it is hoped to consign paper tickets to the bin by the mid 2020s, with smart ticketing the norm.
