GRID MORA

Quick question for you airline types.

RAPID D over mountainous terrain. Do you have to cold weather correct GRID MORA. simple YES or NO. But, you must show where it is written and the method for making such a correction if your answer is yes. Use this route as the basis for your answer.

London - Vancouver. RAPID D occurs over Greenland not under radar control. Unable to reach Iceland on HF.

AND.........GO.

If Transition Level is below 10,000ft, descending to any level higher the altimeter should still be on 1013/29.92. No cold temperature correction in that case.

For more answers I would suggest you post in Tech Log. Good luck .

clearance above mountainous terrain (designated mountainous terrain mind you) is 2000'. With all the possible screwups with altimeters, you would still be pretty clear of mountains.

so, down I go.

Now over the Himalayas, where grid mora is 29000ft +. TL is significantly lower.
