Come to CWL please !!!!
Na, too much competition.

Letsflycwl 30th Oct 2016 12:14

Competition ??? You serious ??? Maybe to Spain with VY and Portugal with BE & FR.....but in need of a loco to Cyprus, Greece, LPA, ACE, FUE. Bucket & spade routes would do well

Oh dear! Doesn't the Welsh sense of humour extend to irony??

Apparently not.

Pointless debate anyway as Norwegian won't be looking at CWL anytime soon, IMO.

crewmeal 30th Oct 2016 20:19

Perhaps they could operate the defunked JFK route from BHX considering AA will finish in Jan.

CabinCrewe 30th Oct 2016 20:44

I suspect most of the BHX-JFK was probably leisure already and without AA OW influence now, would wonder if even a low cost leisure operator such as Norwegian would look to run it? But i suppose they are different beasts all those MAX and Neos have got to go somewhere...

nigel osborne 31st Oct 2016 14:44

With Norwegian anything is possible..expect the unexpected seems about right.

HH6702 31st Oct 2016 14:56

Maybe NCL to JFK and SFB would be nice

Maybe it would be. But neither is going to happen.

Even with a huge amount of onward connections UA couldn't make NCL work.

tigertanaka 31st Oct 2016 21:13

I would love to see Norwegian at NCL. I think SFB is the only US route that would work from there (maybe LAS at a push).

As for European routes then OSL would open up some interesting connection opportunities. Also, the inbound Nordic football market is not to be underestimated!

Bucket & spade routes might be difficult given Ryanair's expansion plans.

AvGeek1 31st Oct 2016 21:20

I'm guessing that the strongly rumoured 737Max flights from MAN and EDI will be to EWR instead of JFK

canberra97 1st Nov 2016 00:18

tigertanaka

Norwegian currently use Orlando International so I wouldn't expect them to use Sanford as their port of entry to Orlando IF they ever contemplated operating transatlantic from Newcastle which of course they won't considering their are bigger markets to serve.

Although I could see Oslo added along with a couple of other Scandinavian destinations, the bucket and spade routes and European cities are more or less covered by Easyjet and Ryanair to be honest.

That's what I heard yes - BOS to also feature. It will be fantastic to have a link to BOS from Scotland as this route has much potential.

I read somewhere an interview with Bjorn Kjos who mentioned routes to Los Angeles and San Fransisco from EDI too, presumably using a Dreamliner. One would hope that an Orlando route is also included.

I predict great times for MAN and EDI with DY/D8 over the next few years. Exciting stuff!

GLA has been very successful in the past 18 months in attracting new airlines. Here's hoping they can secure Norwegian and with it more transatlantic flights from Scotland's economic powerhouse.

I can't see them operating from GLA I'm afraid when they can serve that market from EDI plus the huge inbound market there. In all the statements from Norwegian so far they have talked of BHX, MAN and EDI as well as their hugely successful base at LGW of course.

Here's a couple of articles:

Norwegian won't be flying from Glasgow, they view GLA-EDI as the same market.

Not while GIP have EDI and LGW. They're fattening up the EDI goose for a sale at the moment. I'm sure things will change thereafter.

GIP are fattening all of their airports up for sale eventually but there is nothing to suggest that the sale of EDI is imminent so I'm afraid I don't see the link. Norwegian will use EDI as their base for the Scottish market whoever owns the airport IMHO.

mwm991 1st Nov 2016 19:00

Its nothing to do with ownership. Increasingly operators are choosing one or the other. I.e NAX and Vueling at EDI and Wizz and TCX at GLA.

LandingConfig 1st Nov 2016 19:13

Nothing to say Vueling won't be at GLA anytime in the future. For the record I wouldn't be surprised if Wizz pitched up at EDI as well.

TCX is a different ballgame however.
