You're right, STN is the UK's YMQ, just further out from London than YMQ is from Montreal.

Doesn't Boris reckon that he can cram 250,000 houses on the LHR site? That's 500,000 people and no work. Brilliant!!

Expect that most of the long-serving, over-55, experienced aviation (and related) staff will take the redundancy and early retirement. Younger inexperienced staff may move. If they move where will they live if vanity project airport is in a rural area?

It's all academic anyway!
