Parma runway is 6200ft, enough for a fully loaded 737-300?

Buster the Bear, the runway in Parma is actually 1900 metres long with plans to extend it to 2100 metres. Swiss people seem to be behind the airline.

Seems flights to Luton are not to be ... but instead, welcome to London-Southend!

It would appear that they've changed the routes they are going to do - nothing out of Rimini and all flights seem to originate from Parma.

The Southend service seems to be twice-daily most days of the week, although one flight routes via Pontoise.

London-Southend, where is that?

Should be a good revenue generator eh?

does this schedule mean that Southend eventually found investors who pay for the long overdue shifting of the church, or how do these chaps think to get a loaded 737-300 out of this field....:rolleyes:

Has the airline told Southend airport management about their plans? The following is an extract of a letter sent to residents

Dear Residents
There has been an airfield at Southend since 1915 and, after its early RAF days, it reached its heyday for passengers in 1967 when nearly 700,000 people passed through its doors. Later on in 1989, when express parcel services were booming, there were 110,000 flights through the airport. Today our passenger flights are reduced to just a few summer flights to the Channel Islands that can only be operated with 50 seat type aircraft until the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) are satisfied that the airport has been upgraded to meet current safety standards.
It may seem strange to non-aviation people to see Boeing 737’s coming to and from the airport all the time, and to learn that we cannot allow them to carry passengers. They can only come and go empty until we have the proper runway end safety areas.

Southend are fighting tooth and nail in order to gain business. Their Channel Isles traffic is up considerably this summer, but the only Pax venturing through their terminal are those en-route to JJ and JB on Sat and Sun.

If they are relying on Ciao, their route structure changes daily, so could well be a massive hoax?

Southend dropped and now back to Luton with a twice daily from Milan. Looking at their timetable it looks like they will operated just one aircraft.:eek: :eek:
