Do we have any confirmed dates of the day that ryanair stop routes from ALC or are we still unsure what is happening yet?

Until August 15, anything is possible (slot handback deadline).

AENA has to announce the results and the viability of tests which Ryanair did it for boarding and deplaning walking on two stands of the New Terminal.

For those complaining about drinks prices airside in Spain, on my last 4 trips back from Spanish airports I have had a couple of small Don Simon red wine cartons of red wine in my hand luggage and a bottle of water concealed in my trouser pockets. On none of the 4 occassions were any of them confiscated, the Spanish security seem to be quite relaxed about such things.

Areas (the company that manages 16 establishments in the New Terminal) is preparing a claim to AENA by poor refrigeration of the terminal. Complaints similar to yours are coming.

Alicante new terminal

Used the new terminal at the weekend and was impressed as everything worked pretty efficiently. I don't like being "flushed" through duty free after security but this nothing new for UK passengers. Plenty of space but could do with some more seats. Didn't find the price of food and drink any worse than other airports. As other people have said, the terminal is warm but I didn't find it uncomfortable.
The thing that did bug me was the touts that suddenly appeared when boarding was announced. They sprung into action when the "Ryanair scrum" formed, asking people to do a "survey". I refused to give my details but a few people did. Pretty crafty waiting for boarding so they were less likely to be spotted, but hopefully the airport staff will get wise to this and get rid of them.

I forgot to mention this in my previous post. Yes, it was really annoying, two middle aged women mingling with the queue. One of the womens first words to me were "Are you a UK taxpayer?" I didn't know the woman from Adam so I said no in a very Brummie accent. She didn't look happy but I'm glad she moved on as my next line was going to be a lot less polite.

Survey at Alicante

I said "I do not give out that information", but in welsh. Moved on very quickly.

Airbridges

I hear on the local radio that ALC is refusing to allow Ryanair to use buses to load/off-load pax, claiming that it is too time consuming [?]
Will MOL make good his threat and now leave ALC?

That's always been the stance of ALC from day one.

Will he, won't he. We'll have to wait and see. Could Mercia take the ALC operation onboard?

Murcia could handle additional flights, but the terminal is not big enough to deal with more than 3 or 4 flights flights departing/arriving within an hour of each other.
The new airport at Corvera should be opening soon [but hey, this is Spain so exactly when is anyone's guess] and could certainly handle a fair number of flights.
However, both of these airports are south of ALC, and I would guess that at least 30% of pax head to the Benidorm area, so neither of these alternates would be attractive for these pax.
Or could MOL operate a divide and rule strategy, by using all of the three mentioned above, plus increasing the number of destinations from Almeria?

Hi guys,

I arrived yesterday at ALC airport and the refrigeration is working well finally. ;)
Also I've seen vending machines in the boarding area in front of the gates C45 and C46 (if I'm correct) and in the arrival area. However the prices are almost the same than other restaurants that you can find inside (1,50 euros for a bottle of water half a liter).

Do we have these results yet and if we do were they a success?

Ryanair have to use air bridges and not allowed to walk passengers off aircraft.

Yes, however AENA has given viability for boarding walking during the winter season in six stands in the new terminal. Furthermore, other six stands will be inoperative to perform this kind of operations safely.

It seems Ryanair aren't too impressed with the new un-needed Alicante Airport Terminal and no one seems to know what is going on at Corvera. Don't believe any ' official communications'. It would be nice if Ryanair moved all its ops out of ALC to MJV. Well it's nearer for me. :E

Just been looking at some pictures at Alicante on Jetphotos and i have noticed there are red and white barriers outside the terminals:

Anyone know what these are for?

re: red and white barriers

The red and white barriers in front of the old terminal at ALC are there because there is work going on there between the terminal and the ramp area. When I was last there there a couple of weeks ago looked like they were digging a trench as there was a trenching machine at work.
So all the barriers are there for is just to notify pilot's and groundcrew that the area is closed off, whilst the work is in progress.

Ryanair Summer 12 ?

Any word on what is happening - it seems that they are not doing anything from ALC to BHX or EMA (or any other airport for that matter)

Anyone any idea what the plan is or should I book book with Monarach before the prices increase much more ?

I wouldn't wait too much. In my opinion, Ryanair fares have gone up significantly and are not as competitive. Check prices with baby, easyJet and Monarch (in the case of Birmingham) and baby or Jet2 (in the case of East Midlands).

I'm suprised Ryanair feel they can opt out of such a key market as Alicante, but there is a lot of competition out there and bmibaby seem to have ramped up frequency especially out of EMA. In this neck of the woods they have nothing from Stansted where this summer they had as many as 3 flights a day. I wonder what their gameplan is? Sorry if I've missed it but have they ever resolved the dispute over the airbridges or are they being forced to use them? Some routes they evidently will operate as they recently announced flights to Alicante from Knock.
