profit ?? lol

second coming 1st Oct 2010 22:41

Well I assume profit is the point of business?

Expressflight 2nd Oct 2010 06:53

Throat

You're feeding a Troll here I'm afraid.

second coming 2nd Oct 2010 11:50

Oh dear expressflight. Displaying all the signs of a bully there :bored:.

Expressflight 2nd Oct 2010 13:43

Simply my honest opinion based upon your 73(!) posts in the four weeks since you joined and their general content on numerous threads.
I'm not trying to 'bully' anyone I can assure you.

second coming 2nd Oct 2010 19:53

Well thats exactly what your being. Why do my posts have anything to do with you. If you don't like them then ignore them. Thats what I do. There is no need to post a negative comment.

airferries 2nd Oct 2010 22:40

I wish I could ignore the posts by 'second comming/ teleparty,' but they seem to now have infected an increasing number of threads. First Southamton, then FlyBe, Bournemouth and now Manston! Shame few of these comments have any substance, just stupid, one line irrelevant and unhelpful comments..
Anyway back to the subject of the thread as I don't want to fan the flames any further .
Have the loadfactors on the MAN route started to pick up yet? It will be interesting to see how the MAN/EDI routes hold up during the long winter months. For a new route testing a new market I think the freqencies may be just a bit high through the winter. Fares do look rather low, especially on the MAN flights, however as ever that is not a concrete indicator of how well a route is doing. Even trunk domestic routes such as MAN-EDI have pretty poor load factors during winter.
However, I reckon that some bucket and spade routes from MSE would work very nicely next summer. There is clearly a demand for such services from regional airports, as demonstrated on the HUY-AGP, filling an E195 every week. Also, since the JER route was a strong perfromer this year, I wouldn't be suprised to see FlyBe operating the route next year. Only time will tell, but with the commitment of FlyBE a MSE, the furture is looking considerably brighter compared tp this time last year.

There is no need to post a negative comment.
Second Coming - in your previous guise as Teleparty you posted a few such comments about Bournemouth, and I also recall Norwich Airport and one of the airlines serving Guernsey being subject to your pearls of wisdom too.

All of this can be found on the previous threads in question.

People in glass houses and all that.....

second coming 3rd Oct 2010 02:26

Don't think I have ever made out to be an expert, would not be on such a site if that was the case. I may have made some negative comments about an airport/airline but not about posters. Think we are all aviation enthusiasts so lets at least be respectful.

Think your right about the bucket and spade routes, could certainly see them doing well in Kent.

Expressflight 3rd Oct 2010 07:01

All I can say to Teleparty, sorry Second Coming, is that he has a total misconception of this forum if he thinks it's just for "enthusiasts" and that "experts" (however they might be defined) don't use it. No doubt he will take it as a personal insult, but if he is saying that he is more of a "spotter" than an aviation professional he might do well to digest what others write here rather than spouting off the first thing that comes into his head, as seems the case at present.

My apologies for going off topic like this but this forum is being devalued at the moment by this nonsense.

dublindispatch 3rd Oct 2010 11:20

I still think DUB-MSE a couple of times a week in the summer would work well.

airferries 3rd Oct 2010 11:55

Another old EUjet route. A more frequent service would really be needed to attract business pax. I assume that is a market FlyBe is at least in part trying to attract, as I can't imagine there is great leisure demand for MSE-MAN and EDI during the winter. However, FlyBE is currently shadowing old EUjet routes and they went bust. I lmost think that the Q400 are almot too big. MSE would do better on the domstic routes with a smaller aircraft, ie. a Q300 but operating more frequent flights to better cater for the business market.

Aero Mad 15th Oct 2010 13:11

There's a thing on the Manston Airport social networking  site group about new routes for 2011 coming soon, saying ring if you want to know more - however time is ticking on, flybe has launched its 2011 timetable and no sign. What routes might these be? I know they might annouce them later, but...

Really good to see MSE doing so well over, not loosing routes over winter and overcoming speculation :)

blazing_air 15th Oct 2010 13:29

Rumours in the local rag - that have been denied by Flybe & Infratil is that it may be Dublin..... guess we'll have to wait n see.

globetrotter79 15th Oct 2010 16:17

Much as though DUB might be a neat route in terms of demand ex-MSE, I really can't see flyBe doing it...

They have neither aircraft based in MSE or DUB, so the only way of doing it would be to muck around with the schedules on an existing route to produce a messy "W" pattern: SOU-DUB-MSE-DUB-SOU, EXT-DUB-MSE-DUB-EXT, MAN-MSE-DUB-MSE-MAN or EDI-MSE-DUB-MSE-EDI. I'm really not convinced that they'd do that as it adds greatly to complexity of the operation and means (particularly for the existing MAN and EDI operations) you'd start to impact on the earlier and later key business timed operations in between which the MSE rotations currently fit.

(a) I'm still a bit lost as to why flyBe didn't continue with the JER. Admittedly, they were a bit of an unknown in the Kent region with the weekly MSE-JER prior to the start of the EDI and MAN services, but surely now things have changed a bit?

(b) If flyBe are to add anything, my money would definitely be on them targetting something that they can fly to make use of "dead" capacity in the middle of the day from an existing base in much the same way as the EDI or MAN. As far as I can see, that would basically mean BHD or GLA. I've no idea what demand there would be between BHD and MSE...so I would guess GLA to be more likely?

Clearly Infratil have 'done a deal' to get flyBe in. I wonder whether they view that as a one shot thing, or whether (a la Stobart) would they consider extending to other carriers....in which case perhaps a 3 or 4 per week summer DUB-MSE service with Aer Arann is not so out of the question?

dublindispatch 15th Oct 2010 16:51

Not sure about flybe as i do thing a Q400 is to big, i was thinking more along the lines of some one like Manx2, BHD-ORK-MSE-DUB-MSE-ORK-BHD kind of rotation.

Call me a fool and and idiot but I wonder if flybe feel the Q400 may be just a little too big for some of the markets that they are trying to operate?

Something in a size M or L Sir? Maybe XL is just too big Sir?

second coming 15th Oct 2010 17:10

I can't see Manston getting more than a few holiday routes. If you look at Flybe's route map now I don't think there is an area where they don't serve.

Nakata77 16th Oct 2010 13:07

agree with you second coming.

EUJet ran practically every possible route from Manston a few years ago and they only carried around 300,000 of the projected 500,000 passengers planned. And that was with F100's.

There is definitely demand but one has to understand it is finite.

PLEASE don't anyone suggest Manston could be yet another London airport. There are too many London airport's and the traffic is spread so badly it is not ideal. We have London airports for long-haul, for low cost, for business and for bucket and spade - do we really need another one for another market segment?

second coming 16th Oct 2010 18:07

Well said Nakata. Same goes for Southend.

airferries 17th Oct 2010 08:31

Stop SEN bashing, teleparty. Can't wait to prove you wrong. Stay on topic.
