Are the ROI playing Italy in the world cup qualifiers this week:ugh:

johnref 30th Mar 2009 20:07

ROI play Italy in Bari on Wednesday - not sure this would have caused a scheduled diversion Rome - Belfast - Dublin on the Sunday before game.

BFS101 30th Mar 2009 22:13

Aer Lingus looks at extra flights to the Canaries

From todays Belfast Telegraph:

Aer Lingus looks at extra flights to the Canaries - Business News, Business - Belfasttelegraph.co.uk

Thought that Tenerife had already been decided. Interesting statement at the bottom of the article.

Last year, Aer Lingus carried 750,000 passengers on routes to and from Belfast International, ahead of the target of 500,000. Bookings from Belfast, Mr Coreneille said, were now in line with the airline’s established bases at Dublin, Cork and Shannon.
Aer Lingus’ aim is to break even this year on its Belfast base.

Uncle Monty 31st Mar 2009 11:17

This is old news. It was announced and reported in December that Aer Lingus was to start Tenerife flights in Sept coming. They just haven't been put on sale yet.

EGAC_Ramper 31st Mar 2009 11:21

Low vis at BFS, at least two inbound EZY and one WW diverted to BHD this norning.

Thank goodness for Belfast CITY CENTRE Airport being available for all those Lough Neagh Airport a/c to divert too...... :P :ok::}

Uncle Monty,
Thought that Tenerife had already been decided. Thats why thought it strange when in the article it made it sound like Tenerife was more an option EI were considering, rather than a confirmed destination to begin in September.

"We are looking at a second operation to the Canaries from October, and it could be Tenerife".

BBC NEWS | Northern Ireland | Survey slams City Airport parking

BHD came out joint 18th out of 38 terminals, with BFS joint 27th.

tigger2k8 31st Mar 2009 12:56

i also thought the Tenerife route was agreed on last year, unless they are looking at their budgets.. or A/C availability..

Otto Throttle 31st Mar 2009 21:16

Oh dear. Belfast's only "all weather airport" shut due to, erm.....weather.

Must have been the wrong sort of weather. Hope the crows are tasty at BFS Eastern. :E

BFS101 31st Mar 2009 21:38

Are all airports not susceptible to adverse weather depending on the degree?? The recent snow falls verified that when havoc was caused all over the UK. Whether it's snow, fog or electrical storms surely no airport is exempt from the wrath of weather EVEN Aldergrove!!!

NWSRG 31st Mar 2009 21:43

Maybe Aldergrove wasn't the problem...maybe it was certain aircraft that were not suitably equipped to make full use of Aldergrove's CAT3 facilities!!

Belfast's only "all weather airport" shut due to, erm.....weather

Actually no ...not weather....Still ahead on points...see you up here again!

tigger2k8 1st Apr 2009 02:39

sometimes i really do wonder why the hell theres some who keep slating Aldergrove over the weather... lets face it, BFS and BHD have their bad days, but their close proximity is gr8 if one is closed (BHD a couple of times in the last month and BFS the other day...)

well the BMI's that diverted were all 737s and old aircraft, but im sure 1 or 2 of the EZY's that got diverted were 319s (GLA or EDI)?

thought everyone knew by now that no airport is invincible against the weather... despite the technology at them..

True Blue 1st Apr 2009 09:27

Excellent news regarding PRG. Hopefully EZY doesn't restart the route again then, try knock WW off like with LS. Wonder will this signal potential growth of international services frm BFS with WW.

tigger2k8 1st Apr 2009 14:12

thats gr8 news, must say i was disappointed with EZY dropping it..

anyone know wot the Jet2 is doing sitting over at the RAF side?

eastern wiseguy 1st Apr 2009 14:29
